Coyotes have started appearing in Fairfax in the Mantua subdivision (Route 50 and Prosperity. One walked through my yard midday passing near my sleeping dog. Fairfax County advised me they have seen them on cameras mounted in the woods to monitor deer populations..

Oh my God! A coyote in Clifton???!! We should cut down all the trees quickly and replace it with patios furnished by Target! What's next, frogs and salamanders invading??

We are encroaching on the natural habitat by the bounds, and the last time we checked, Clifton was an oasis reserved for the fortunate few with enough money to have some acreage. Live up to the responsibility, dwellers of Clifton. We live on the outskirts of Clifton and our few precious acres are the stomping grounds of coyotes, bears, foxes, redtail hawks and amphibians galore. We have japanese gardens and 4 show Koi ponds, and we don't use a single pesticide nor do we discourage the natural wildlife from taking advantage, their options are limited these days.

If you don't want to live in nature then buy a "McMansion" on a 1/4 acre lot where you can poison the ground in pursuit of grass perfection and spend the weekends shopping Wegmans for ready-made "gourmet" meals. The end is near...

How about giving up your B.S. hybrid vehicle and letting your land do what it's intended to do, support wildlife.

Oh yeah, and we have Rottweilers, the coyotes don't seem to bother them for some reason....
