If I was lord and master of that town I would get a good alcohol educator and make the parents attend a session a week for 8 weeks as their community service and to set up and tear down the hall. It would be open for anyone in town to attend and I would have several marshall's there to keep it calm. My goal would be to get the event to stimulate a community wide education effort rather than to throw two people in prison for 2 1/2 years, plus court costs which would put a 250,000 dollar cost to the taxpayers. In the end I would have a number of well educated people in the town on alcohol and a two parents realizing their responsibilities to the other parents. I think this would give a better result than making these two parents fearful for their lives for the next 2 1/2 years. Clearly the whole court and jail thing has destroyed this American family beyond any repair. Is that what we want? I don't. It may just be, I am not as mean as the rest of you. Well good, I am trying to balance what we need to do to better our society without overkill. Its wrong to use MAD to hurt other people just because you can use it as an excuse to let out all your pent up righteous anger. The punishment should fit the crime. MAD like any organization is run by people with agendas and opinions that taken to the extreme are not good for us either. We need to first try to fix what we can before we destroy it forever.
