Must commend City Council on another great idea, namely the "most distressed" property nomination, with "award" of gift certificate "good for" $50 dumping fees at transfer station. Just another great step forward in the program of "beautification" in the "Magic City" that was implemented under the pretext of bringing buisness and jobs to town?(Condolences to those 75 who will lose their jobs at Brown Corp. of Moberly just in time for Thanksgiving.) One problem might be that those living in "distressed" properties may not have finances for luxuries such as gas, that are a prerequisite for an "outing" to the dump?(Perhaps Veolia will allow "winners" of this award to trade in their prize for 50 garbage bags?) Chances are, in this distressed economy, that "distressed" nominees are exactly that, unemployed or, perhaps to come, disabled and/or senior citizens. Perhaps this "award" will be the assistance usually provided for a distress call - S.O.S. Still waiting to see the influx of buisness and jobs, can't wait to see the nominees for next month, and hope the photo shows what exactly the council would like dumped?!

cleaning up the freaking trash around ones property doesn't cost a lot of money. Its just being lazy and not giving a $hit about your neighbor! dunuzin11 wrote: Must commend City Council on another great idea, namely the "most distressed" property nomination, with "award" of gift certificate "good for" $50 dumping fees at transfer station. No trash pictured, and the cost mention was for fuel. Also would require a vehicle and/or trailer (if there were trash pictured that needed to be hauled off.) As for caring for neighbors and being lazy, that would be something that might need investigated. Perhaps instead of code enforcement officers we as a city should employ neighborliness and work ethic social workers and then opinionated people would think a little less of themselves and a little more about their neighbor. Ya get what ya give in this world.

why not? How would you even start "picking & choosing a family's home, even if it is old & delapitated. I bet you would stoop so low as to torch someones home. how sad for you.

To get back on subject and off a focus that isn't worth discussing..... How would the city stoop so low as to pick and choose when those they select had no choice but to live in old and delapidated properties because of the delapidated economy. An economy which isn't improved at all by this "beautification" "program". A "program" that they justify by a far fetched (unreasonable) "reasoning" that it will "bring new buisness", which it has not and will not do. The main problem is that they want a pretty ride to "work" or to their city council meetings. The only solution to that would be for them to get on city payroll/council in a place that wasn't depressed and run down to begin with. If new buisness is what they wish to attract perhaps they could focus on the delapidated commercial buildings around town that a company might consider moving into? They should do that or they need to drop the farce of beautification=employment, or come up with another more believable reason for it. I guess they could tell the truth, that they have personal problems with certain properties that they have unjustly brought to public forum and so attention, but I don't see that happening.

In the last few years a few people have developed a personal problem with it. Then they supposedly developed a reasonable plan to change it to fit their expectations, but the plan sucks and the reasoning behind the plan is B.S. I don't get paid to come up with the plan, but those that do need to do a better job or find another career. I ain't bitchin''bout nothin' but the bitchers, and I read a lot of yer bitchin' so I'm thinkin' you oughta run for city council and see if you can get something done with your gas and matches.
