I wonder if the deceased was trying to get warm before the fire and fell in and this woman got mesmerized watching the body, like a macabre movie. Will be looking for further stories on this case and who was the person found hanging in the ditch a month or so ago.

How far away was this campfire from anywhere people could of been living? And if not more than a quarter mile, then is there anyone who would of heard some horrific sounds? God, this is just so sad and so many questions. My heart goes out to whoever the family is of the deceased. And even this woman. It's a lot more to ponder than meets the eye.

its a good chance that the burning body is mrs overtons' husband, and he died of natural causes...they have been roaming the area for about 6 months now...

Does anyone think this woman may need a mental check and not just jail time. She must have been off her meds to be able to sit by a situation like that. I am sure the authorities are going to do ALL the right stuff..? Hopefully!

The woman was known to have mental illness, as was the deceased. Both had been walking into peoples' homes uninvited and demanding specific food items, etc. The couple made a lot of us very nervous out here in Cliff for several weeks. The local churches did a lot to take care of their needs, but nothing could be done out here to solve these people's problems.

Jeff Dahmer's Mom is having dinner with him at his apartment. In the middle of dinner she tells him:
"Jeff, I really like your apartment, but I don't like your neighbors". So he says: "That's OK, Mom,
just eat your veggies then".

Y'all are mental. This story is indicative of the issues our society has for a whole lot of people. This reads like this couple needed help a long time ago but for some reason or another, didn't get it. More than likely all these budgetary cuts is creating more situations similar to this where senior citizens (and others) end up in a hard bind. Where is any family? What happened to 'respect your elders'? What happened to compassion? How come folks in Cliff who saw this couple didn't try getting ahold of some social services agency and see if there was someplace else folks could be? There's always a better resort than making sick jokes and making fun of a situation that could very easily be something any one of us could be in(although a different scenario but generically similar) or any of our relatives/friends could find themselves in.

Perhaps this is one of her loved ones she was cremating. Funeral services are riciculously expensive as is direct cremation. A very sad picture of what is happening to the US of A....

We did try.....Many of us gave food and clothing. When they were entering our homes either while we were in them ( univited ) or while no one was at home and they found a door unlocked the authorities were called. It was evident she had some mental health problems and when taken to Gila Regional Medical Center they did not keep her for evaluation, but let her go.

and try not to take Her too seriously.

Do agree that this is what happens in New Mexico. Our fearless leaders are much too busy finding their relatives, friends, etc. jobs, double-dipping, stealing and looking for new ways to get their fingers in every pie to bother even thinking about taking care of people that really need it. Since most lunkheads keep voting for the same crooks, and spend their time telling those of us who dare notice the problems and complain to "if you don't like it move", all we can do is joke about it, simply because if not the pain would affect us even more. Humor is often a defense mechanism, not a symptom of not caring. In New Mexico life is just a bowl of Pinion Nuts, that have often been crapped on by field mice and contaminated with Hanta Virus. "In the long run, it will make you cry....make you crazy and old before your time...." (From "You Don't Have To Cry" by Crosby, Stills, & Nash"

Sadly enough Skinwalker is pretty close to the truth. The deceased wishes were to be cremated. And that's exactly what she was doing. There are no laws in New Mexico that says you can't burn a human body in a campfire.

BTW, in my opinion this is another good example of the piss poor job of reporting this paper does. The reporter failed to find out the reason why this lady was attempting to cremate someones body. Instead the readers have to learn why from reading the online forums

It doesn’t matter is she is sane or insane, It doesn’t matter is she did anything wrong, and it doesn’t matter is she murdered killed or molested children in the past. According to Joseph One and his book of Fairy Tales she will get to sit in Heaven and prosper so long as she says she’s sorry and accepts Jesus Christ as her savior.
