Sad situation. Seems like this area is a magnet for people with severe depression.

I offered this guy a ride on Jan 11 near dark, he was walking on hwy 180 norh just past the mule creek turn off. He seemed upset and said he was out for a walk!?? He was not dressed for the elements, he was wearing jeans and a cotton dress shirt. Based on his demeanor and how he was dressed I knew something was wrong. So when I got to cliff where I had cell phone service I called Central dipsatch and advised them of the strange circumstances and they said they would send a Grant County Deputy.
DID THEY ??????????

Even if they did, in his state of mind, he may very well have just walked off before anyone would have been able to get out there anyway. It's a good question to ask and you, as the person who reported him, have every right to give them a call and find out if there is an incident report on it.

Since it's possible, in that area, that the closest deputy could have been 30 minutes or more away, don't be surprised if they just couldn't find him.

I've been seeing this guys car parked on the side of road for 3 weeks and they just barely started looking for him on SUNDAY?!?!?!?! They towed his car last monday, it had the keys in it and everything. Its scary to think I could be hurt somewhere and it would take 3 weeks for the search and rescue to look for me. Very dissapointing.....

Lets see a good cop runs the plate, see's its not stolen. The next day the cars still parked there on the hwy , so the cop puts a sticker warning the owner the car is going to be considerd abandoned. Then weeks later tow it to find he died from the elements?! How about find the registered owner by the plate and address, call 411 (information)and see if there is a phone number for the owner of the car, call it and talk to family and find out situation. Once this was done and there was concern for his mental health wouldnt you start looking then not two weeks later?????????? Im pissed at the lack of smart cops!!

They would rather play speed racer than get out of their cars and actually do police work.

The GCSO knew about him running out of gas right away. They chose not to look for him, just wait for a missing person. THEY did have the opportunity to search for him the evening he ran out of gas. The local deputy WAS notified.

GRMC released this man and an officer took him back to his car in Cliff. The officer bought some gas for him and he only made it to Leapold Vista. THey should of known he was close by there. They just assumed he caught a ride to Glenwood.

To Old Man:
The person that you describe as "road trash" was my dear brother. He had a family that loved him dearly. He had an illness that caused his irrational behavior. He would have done anything for anyone, including you, old man.

You need to consider what you say about others because one day it will be the same thing others say about YOU!!!!
