A big thank you to those who put on the nice fireworks this evening. There was a lot of pretty fireworks comming off the hill where the main fireworks is. Only thing. How come the fireworks was done on the 3rd instead of the 4th? An okay parade except for all the delay, especially after the political part started. The weather held up even so it felt tropical but all in all, a really decent Fourth of July weekend so far.

Actually, I liked last years fireworks display better. This one was okay, but it got repetitive. They used the same aerials over and over again. Evidently others agreed with me. Many cars that parked to watch pulled away before it was complete. That didn't happen last year. Verizon paid for the fireworks and I am grateful to them. But they need to hire someone from back East to put on the show. I sure miss the really loud booms they used to have that would set off the car alarms and rattle the windows and make the animals go insane.

Mr Deputy276: if you haven't seen one of those shows on cable where they talk about what all is involved in one of those fancy fireworks shows like what they have back east, the ones where the music is tied in and there's shaped fireworks and all that? That costs a lot of freaking money. Of course, if a bunch of the people who do the giagantic fireworks on the streets put money into a fabulous Light Show instead of trying to light parts of town on fire, why maybe the city could afford at least some small time outfit out of Cruces or something. Unless you have relatives who could program a good show, have all the gear, etc. etc and would donate their time and effort into putting on a fancy fireworks show like on tv from back east.

Pretty soon Silver City will celebrate July 4th in June and why not, they celebrate Christmas in November. This city (if that is what you want to call it) is so bad, from the lack of restaurants (including a new one who advertises to be open 7 days a week, but is not) to grocery stores - it is a joke brought on by all the local politicians. I have a good job here with an international company and I just keep praying for a transfer.

I said nothing abut music or displayes or laser lights on TV. Stop assuming. I was talking about the FIREWORKS. And here's a newsflash, but last night on the news feed from Albuquerque they mentioned that the cost of fireworks displays has DROPPED because of the heavy competition to put on those shows. I NEVER said "fancy". I detect more than a little anti-East attitude in your comments. What the show in Silver needed wasn't music and rock bands and all that crap. It needed VARIETY in the actual fireworks display. Watching the same aerials go off 3-4 times gets old rather quickly. Hence many people leaving before it ended. I am fully aware that ONE PERSON is involved in the actual putting on of the event. He just needs advice on tweaking his choice of displays. Last year...awesome. This year...sucked. Go back to what he was doing last year. So simple even an anti-East bigot like you can understand.
