Going to The Watershed is like going to a zombie apocalypse. It seems almost everyone is told they are "bipolar" and given those pills like on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Those dumb-down pills are like getting hit in the head with cement truck, not treatment. Beware this place is a 5150 loony bin not a treatment center.

The Watershed is a scam, plain and simple!! The telemarketers on the phone will tell you whatever they can to get you down there. During my initial phone call, I was told that that the facility was on the beach (lie - the Boynton facility is in an industrial park), that there were jet skis for recreational use, horses for equine therapy, private rooms, massage, acupuncture, and a bunch of other amenities that were nonexistent once I arrived. Now before you say that this is a rehab and not a hotel and who cares about those things... I do. Like anything else in life - you get what you pay for, and I paid cash to go to this facility under the false pretenses of their 'luxury' amenities. I look at it this way: why stay at a motel 6 when you can afford (and are used to) the Ritz. I know for a fact that there are plenty of facilities that actually do offer these things, so I was shocked when I found out everything the telemarketer told me was a lie.

The lying and deception continues when they tell you that you can leave at "anytime." Sure, you can leave, but a tech in a link shirt that blatantly advertises that you're from a rehab follows you when you walk off the property, and you cannot retrieve any of your personal belongings (cash, identification, phones) from the safe (as everything is confiscated from you upon arrival) until you've been off their property for 24 hours! They also tell you that the length of stay is 28-days on the phone, but once you get there they try to convince you to go to PHP, which are dumpy disgusting apartments in a run down drug infested neighborhood. If you tell them that you do not want to go, your therapist will contact your family and tell them not to take you home under any circumstances, that you must go to PHP and continue their program or you will relapse and die.

Overall, The Watershed is deceptive and shady in all of their practices. They are a money hungry insurance mill, and all they care about is the Almighty dollar. Do not go here, and do not send your children here. Parents of young girls beware - many a girl has left the program for one reason or another (mostly due to their deceptiveness) and has been picked up by strangers and raped, sold and prostituted. Two girls (aged 19 & 24) during my stay alone were put in serious life threatening positions after "AWOL-ing" from the program. The techs aren't shy about telling you this, either. Its common knowledge, and partially used as one of their scare tactics to make you stay there longer.

Please, find another rehab!

i agree with everything melissa said 100% she is right on the nose PHP is duscusting and drug ridden. the dealers walk along the fence line and throw drugs over to people otherwise the people just jump over the fence to meet the dealers. it for so bad while I was there that the the managers of the place tommy and kj got fired as well as a bunch of other techs for just letting the drug.use go on under there noses. Mabey the place has cleaned up a bit but I doubt it all the watershed does is lie... your not fixed until they say u are which strangely coencides with when ur money or insurance runs out. if u still have insurance benefits or ur family is paying cash $$ then u can't go home or ull die or relapse but when ur isnurance is out your miraculously fixed and can go home now. the shed is a joke!!!!! go somewhere else!!!!!

Went to the watershed at boynton facility, was not impressed. Facility is ok, clean and well taken care of but definitely has an institutional feel to it. All the rooms are doubles with private baths (no singles available even for an extra fee) and are sparsely furnished - 2 beds, shared bureau and armorire, desk with no chair in some. When you're on detox the first few days you will be in an "observation" room which houses up to 3 people and has a camera in it for 24 hour surveillance.
Watershed operates on a colored wristband system. When you come in to detox, you are on "purple band" and have no privileges. You cannot use the staircase and have to wait for excruciatingly slow elevators (men and women have separate elevators and cannot use each others or be in the same elevator together). You cannot use the phone privately while on purple band, and all calls are made on speaker phone with someone from patient relations or a therapist. While on purple band, you cannot use the pool, volleyball court, do yoga or any other activities. The next phase is "blue band". On blue band you're allowed to use the stairs, sign up for and use the phone privately (though phone calls are never really private as a tech stands by the phone during every call to supervise), use the pool during the allotted one hour a day (if there is a staff member available to supervise), and partake in all physical activities. If you're good and participating in your treatment , you can receive an "orange band" which allows you to attend an outside beach meeting every week (you have to wake up at 5:30 am as its an early morning meeting). You also get to stay up later than everyone on the weekend and get extended phone call time.
Daily scheduling is that which you would expect of a rehab. Wake up at 7. Vitals. Breakfast at 8ish, then 2 groups before lunch. More groups and freetime after lunch. Dinner. Outside AA commitment (if they show up). Wrap up group and then your night is free. Food at boynton is pretty good. Salad bar for each meal, deli style made to order sandwich counter at lunch, delicious dessert. soft serve ice cream machine with toppings, soda fountain, coffee, fruit, chips, cereal, pbj, etc available all day.
Beware the length of stay, as someone said above. They tell everyone that they will only be there for 28 days, but once you get there they tell you the program is 90 days or longer depending on what insurance will pay for. They talk you into going to PHP, where you live in an old motel that's been turned into apartments and attend horrible redundant groups at a place called quantum that they bus you to. The apartments are pretty gross (mine was filthy upon arrival as there is no cleaning crew) and as someone said ridden with drugs like spice, dilaudid, mucinex and triple C's (whatever they can't test for). You get your cell phone at PHP though, and there is a house phone in each apartment. The apartments have two bedrooms with two beds in each, and a bathroom for each bedroom. You get a 40$ giftcard to publix each week to purchase food for breakfast and dinner (lunch is provided at quantum and is relatively inedible.)
Getting discharged from the program is virtually impossible and if you just walk off property techs will follow you. You can't get personal items back for 24 hours after leaving. If they pay for your flight down there you're screwed until they say you can leave, otherwise your family needs to be adament about wanting you home. You have literally no say in the matter.
My advice is to go elsewhere. If you do end up at the watershed take heed - do not sign releases for family members, make your emergency contact a friend (someone who will be contacted if you want to leave and will say that they agree with your decision), and don't fall for what they tell you on the phone... there are no horses or kayaks or massages.

I worked there for a long period of time. Everything in the past two posts is basically true. But if you are seeking the beach and jet skis go to a spa you aren't ready for rehab.Good luck as far as getting sober you are going to need it if thats your attitude. I'm not sure how the Wateshed can stay in buidiness. Their first priority is making money not helping people get better. Ive witnessed first hand Insurance fraud and mutilpe HIPPA violations. If you think being a patient there is bad try being staff, it has a higher turnover rate than Macdonald's for a reason.

The first time I went to The Watershed I felt the same way. The only thing I could focus on was the lies I thought they were telling me. I went back to the Watershed beaten and nearly dead. If that is the only thing you took away from being there then you are not ready to be sober. I am not going to preach to you because this is your journey and you are entitled to your opinion./I will just tell you how it was for me. when I had finally had enough and decided I could not live that way anymore it know longer mattered where I got sober, just that I got sober. I really started listening because I realized that someone else might know more than me. I was not there to ride horses, or ski, or sit on the beach. I was there to learn how to live so that one day I could enjoy those things/ I truly wish the best for you, for anyone fighting this disease. I have watched it take lives and I have watched it save lives. Watershed saved my life, they gave me the tools I needed to help myself. I realized that I had to do this for myself, no one else could do it for me. I look at things differently now because of the Watershed. I tell my story every chance you get. If you were watching someone you love and care about dying, would you tell them anything to save their life. They no what they are doing. Why? Because a lot of them have battled this themselves. I thank my higher power for showing me that number. Watershed.

Kimmie,
Send me an email - demm67@gmail.com. I'll answer all your questions, honestly, about the Watershed. And fyi, basically everything said in these reviews is a hundred percent true. Feel free to e-mail, I'll give you some advice on how to get your friend out. She doesn't have to go to the halfway house, they can't make her do anything, as much as they would like to and make it seem that way.

I don't know where these people below have gone but I went to watershed three months ago and was in great need for help and there I received that help and care that has now had me free from alcohol and drugs all together! Yes I was sharing a room with someone for one night but it was set up so that you don't feel alone, that allowed me to have someone to talk to and now Sherry and I are still friends. The nurses are constantly making you try to feel as comfortable and loved as possible! And there is a handful of the staff that has been through addiction and understand and know what we are going through! I would greatly suggest going to watershed and changing your life!

This place is an absolute joke. Do NOT send your loved ones here...I had a family member who was told exactly the same stuff,(they will fly you down and you dont owe anything bc majoirty is covered by your insurance). Which in reality it is all LIES!!! They will take you for all that you got and then some! Not to mention, the facility is nothing like it is mentioned on the website. Its actually a run down nursing home that they have made into a treatment facility. Also, the people who work there look like a bunch of teenagers. Needless to say, luckily we were able to drive down there and pick my family up after one night of her being there. Unfortunately, she wasnt able to get her belongings,(like wallet, cell phone etc) until the next morning. Which we didnt stick around for. We just said forget it and canceled everything. I wish we would have done more research before all this happened but its a little too late now. I learned a valuable lesson through all this mess, you can never do to much research!! When in doubt if you have a bad gut feeling about something, trust your instincts. I dont understand how a place like this is still open for business. They should be shut down! Also, look on careerbuilder or another job posting site and you will see TONS of job openings available. What does that tell you? Obviously they cant keep workers. Anywho, I am done with my rant. But please, people who are reading this DO NOT send your loved ones here. Go elsewhere!!!

99% of what you just said was completely false , I went through the program and my experience was great .. My insurance actually didn't even cover it after a certain point and they were still willing to let me complete the program, on their dollar not mine or my family! So for the point you were making about all about the money, FALSE. Even when I left the alumni department checked In with me just to make sure I was ok! You really shouldn't put things up like this because you are robbing other addicts and alcoholics who are still currently using from getting the help they need! If you were sober (which I'm sure your not at this point) you would know it's all about helping the next person! I've been sober for over a year and i love the watershed I would recommend it to anyone!

BULLSHITE! Everything she said is 100% true. How much does The Watershed pay you for your comments?....People, I had to jump through all kinds of hoops to get my husband out of that hell. I even called the manager of the entire facility. Finally, the Palm Beach County Department of Substance Abuse helped me get him out. When I first spoke with the woman and told her that my husband was a prisoner in rehab, the first thing she said was "Let me guess, The Watershed?!?". According to her they get numerous complaints about these blood suckers. Just do yourselves a favor, pick a different rehab!

Daily Horoscope for June 20

Sagittarius

Grab the chance to talk about your innermost feelings today, especially if you can confide in someone you trust. You don't have to make this conversation really serious or gut-wrenching, either, because even a relatively light-hearted chat will help you to release a lot of pent-up emotion. But do make sure that you do your fair share of listening as well as talking.
