So I am just wondering where in the he-- the great mayor of our fair city thought that shooting our Fourth of July fireworks on this day was avoid idea? How about Labor Day not the day our country was attacked how dumb is this or am I the only taxpayer that feels this way? Hoping I am not the only one that feels this way and hopefully by the next council meeting 1 of the 6 councilors will change the date. Hoping the citizens of Lebanon hang in for the ride because is seems to be coming.

It seem's a little sick to me also, why on a day that three thousand people were killed by terrorist, what are they thinking why not have a parade for the terrorist too.

Nope; I'm with you. 9/11 should be a quiet, somber event... not a loud, colorful, boisterous celebration.

Word is the reason the city fireworks were canceled was because the mayor's buddy had an event going on at the Capitol theatre that night guess the ole mayor did not want to get wet with the common folks. All I can say is that is what you get when you vote in an idiot for mayor but it is just my opinion!

Just read the channel 4 website about the fireworks. Does the mayor not know that patriots day is a solemn day. My sister in law lost her only son that day. He had just got a new job at tower two. When I called her in New York and told her about the fireworks, she lost it. Shame on you mayor and council!!!

I want to apologize to one member of city council, Cathy Warmath. She is against the crazy fireworks. I wish I lived in your district. You would have our family's vote. Good leaders stand up against wrong.

Has anyone read the letter to the editor of the Lebanon democrat by Sgt. Maj. Russell Ryan (retired U S Army) on Saturday Sept.8, This sums up how disrespectful Craighead's little planned self celebration is to all that has lost loved one's on or because of the attack on US citizen's on 9/11, This goes to show how self centered a little twerp he really is, He has gotten the king syndrome, even his head butt kisser refered to him as the commander and cheif of Lebanon, and speaking does anybody think he is telling the truth when he say's he has received no negative comment's on having firework's on 9/11!. I hope all of Craighead's butt kisser's have a really good time on a solemn day, and I hope all of the people who have lost loved one's will let them know just how much they disapprove of it.

Fireworks may be rained out on 9/11 but my flag will still be flown at half mast. Do not expect me to shoot off fireworks and say whoopee!!!! It will be a quite day to remember the fallen.

Watch the memorial today at ground zero. It was very moving, sheed a few tears when the bell chimed. I did not see the Mayor of New York City putting on a firework show.

Today is Sept. 11th, and all other towns are holding solemn and very moving remembrance of what took place on this day not so long ago. Not Lebanon Tenn. Instead our silly mayor is shooting fireworks and eating watermelon and playing games with radio personalities at the fairgrounds. This is so disrespectful, how and why do we elect these people? Lest not forget the 3 rubber stamps he has on the council and put and end to this charade at the next elections. We need leaders who care about our city and country GOD BLESS AMERICA

Did you enjoy the fireworks mayor?

The September 11 attacks resulted in 2,996 immediate (attack time) deaths: 2,977 victims and the 19 hijackers. A total of 372 foreign nationals (excluding the 19 perpetrators) perished in the attacks, representing just over 12% of the total. The immediate deaths include 246 victims on the four planes (from which there were no survivors), 2,606 in New York City in the World Trade Center and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon. About 292 people were killed at street level by burning debris and falling bodies of those who had jumped or fallen from the World Trade Center's windows. All the deaths in the attacks were civilians except for 55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon.
