Meigs County Politics:
Melvin Holmes: The basic facts are he is using his influence to try and put his mother-in-law into a position when she is a retired individual. This boils down to common greed how much do people really need? I do not doubt she is a great lady. But this brings up the FACT if you are retired stay retired, give someone else a oppurtunity or do you have to be related to someone who holds a office in order to have a chance of employment?
This is the reason TVA is struggling right now they have people retire an then within a week they are back as a contractor.
If the individual can continue to work then why not stay at the job you retired from.
When does common greed come into play?
Why not promote the individual who is presently doing the job!!!!
I'm sure Mr. Holmes, is a great Dad, Husband and son-in-law I understand we just had Christmas but I think he probably gave her a decent present.
I don't think the tax payers of Meigs County should provide the present!!!
Also, according to privacy act of 2007 the committee is going against it basic by-laws. We have no Director or interim director, I wonder if the individual who is presently doing the job is recieving the appropriate compensation for the work? I doubt it they are probably using it to give there children or grandchilderen a job. Are they qualified for the position, or are the qualifications being related to them?
If we as a community sit back and let this continue to happen then we will deserve what we get. I believe we as a county need a change because this is not the way are elected officals should behave. The best interest of the county should be taken into account not lining their familes pockets.
Verse Chorus Verse and everything stays the same.
I'm sure she will probably get the job to solitify my opinion of small town corrupt politics.
I my self am not perfect but if you claim to be a Christian as all of our elected officials claim to be how is this leaving a good testimony?
One day I believe very soon we will all have to answer for or honesty and integrity how do you live your life when you are all by yourself
If the statements I have posted are incorrect I challenge the committee and any/all individuals this would involve to respond back.

Also I don't think I read a single so called fact, throughout your long gossip/opinion column. Much of which does not even remotely apply to me. I am NOT in office for anything!!
