Then, one hive at a time the bees disappeared. The County Agent said it was a mite killing them. He recommended something made by Bayer Co, to "treat" the mites and I used it once but the stands I had left were so weak they died anyway.
I have no idea what was in that medicine, but if they had lived I wouldn't have eaten that honey.
I have repeatedly tried to start again, buying bees and a queen and feeding them long after they should be able to fend for themselves. The outcome is always the same. They weaken down and die out. Now our County Agent says it is colony collapse whatever that is, causing the die-out....
If anyone on here keeps bees and is having any luck, let me know what I am doing wrong....or what they are doing right.
My Mom has orchards and a large garden that she takes fruit and produce from to farmers market, and she keeps bees too. She once had 20 hives and is now down to 1 that she is struggling to keep. She swears it is the systemic fertilizers and herbicides that are killing off the bees. I don't know enough about it to know for sure, but I had to see it happening!

If you cannot comprehend the import of this abhorence you will only remain a part of the problem.
The theoretical design of marxism and socialism demand the replacement of constitutional "representative governance," the separation of powers, limited or restrictive powers and prominently - "capitalism"! This necessarilly progresses counter-inuitively to any recognizable precept of personal freedom and liberty. History provides a wealth of understanding of the inherent dangers of centralizing state power and control, I hope you will.

<quoted text>Good Luck O.T., as we don't have the manpower to hand pollinate like China does.
You're absolutely right, Dunlapian. I read an Article quite awhile back, in Time Magazine, I think, that told just how the Chinese take something like a feather duster (best description I can come up with), climb the trees, and literally, dust the tree branches with it....and they do this with all the crops that have to be pollinated. I can't imagine how time-consuming that must be and how difficult. But, they have no choice if they want to have food and money from their crops because they literally have NO bees. They all died out before it started happening to ours.
The truly frightening thing was that the Article said if we didn't find out the cause and did something about it, most of the World, including us, would have to exist on a porridge-like substance to live and that's all we would have to eat.
Most people just don't understand that Honey Bees are almost essentially to our own survival because almost everything we grow and eat has to be pollinated.
I, myself, didn't realize how vital Honey Bees are to our food supply until I read the Article. It was scary when it was actually spelled out for me...and I wonder how many of us would survive without them.

OT, we still have Honey in our main grocery store, but it's all all produced in an adjoining County. I'm told that we still have one Person that has homegrown honey for sale...at least, I was told that a few years ago. I'm not sure if we still do or not.
I have clover on my yard and it's been a rare thing to see a Honey Bee in my yard for the past several years...and I do mean, one Bee, if I see any at all. So, when I occasionally see that one Bee, I walk very carefully to make sure that I do not step on him...and look very closely where I step, in case there is another one that I didn't see...and that's just to get to and from the car.
Those little Honey Bees are literally are valuable as Gold, in recent years....maybe even more so, because you can't eat Gold.
And because this Honey Bee shortage, is a problem in so many Countries, Gold won't buy you food either, if there's none to be bought.

I brought this up a while back but I'm just the Conspiracy nut.By the way they have made little drone like Bees ,however that must be some crazy theory anyhow.Just like the one I put up on another site that SSS says I Must have gotten it from some ridiculous place yet I wrote it word for word from the Alliance for Natural Health as to not get it wrong concerning the way in which GMOs are created.
I was laughed at for questioning the Boston Bombing even though 17 out of 20 terror attacks in the last 10 years were FBI manipulated and this seemed it might be following the pattern those usually take.
So go buy some little drone bees, they do lots of other errands also.

The Founders gave NO rights - they simply wrote the rights, granted by the Creator down.
Man's unalienable rights are sacred for the same reason that they are unalienable--because of their Divine origin, according to the Founders.
"...endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights ..." (Declaration of Independence)- you know, our Founding Document.
The concept of Man's rights being unalienable is based solely upon the belief in their Divine origin. Lacking this belief, there is no moral basis for any claim that they are unalienable or for any claim to the great benefits flowing from this concept. God-given rights are sometimes called Natural Rights--those possessed by Man under the Laws of Nature, meaning under the laws of God's creation and therefore by gift of God. Man has no power to alienate--to dispose of, by surrender, barter or gift--his God-given rights, according to the American philosophy. This is the meaning of "unalienable."
So, if your complete and utterly false claim that 'man' "gave" us these 'rights' were true...then there would be NO rights; only privileges granted by men - and easily taken away.
This is exactly how I have known this to be.
This is how they taught us in the Yankeeville, Ohio school system.

All of our Fruits, Vegetables, and Nuts have to be pollinated or the Trees and Plants do! I wish I had kept that Magazine because there are foods that you wouldn't even think about, that have to be pollinated.
Like I said, the Article pointed out that, without Honey Bees, all we would have to eat is Porridge (gruel)...and I'm not even sure what that is and I certainly don't know how to make it. But, I think it's something like Oatmeal. Imagine having to eat Oatmeal 3 times a day, for a Lifetime, just to survive. Even wheat, for bread, has to be pollinated. And we wouldn't have any meat because everything the Animals eat to stay alive, has to be pollinated or we won't have any grains to feed them. It's not a joke, it's serious, actually critical...if all the Honey Bees die.
The article said that Farmers had been having Honey Bees shipped in by 18-wheelers for years , just to keep their Fields producing food for us....mostly from one certain "Honey Bee" Farmer and a few other places that still had them, all the way across the Country.
You can probably Google it and read what I read and several other Articles about Honey Bees and the World-wide shortage. If you do, I promise you that you will be shocked about how important they are and you'll never take them for granted, again. At least, not until they are plentiful, again.

Your Mom might find that Article very interesting. When I read the Article that I keep talking about, several years ago, it was from a world-wide Conference in another Country, with attendees from all over the World, including the U.S., trying to share information to try and figure out what was killing all of the Honey Bees and to try and come up with a plan to save them.
The last I heard or read, they have tried everything, almost , in different Countries of the World and nothing has worked, so far.

Just one more thing and I'll shut up about it...If anybody has noticed, you hardly ever see Bumble Bees, either.
I "think" Bumble Bees mainly just pollinate Flowers that aren't food producers, but it's interesting that they have become scarce, too, to my way of thinking. There has to be a connection, I would think, but who knows for sure.

LOL! They're all over me anyway, so I might as well give them reason to be.

A Truck Driver that I know , who doesn't live here, tells me that he sees "Help Wanted" signs everywhere he goes...bunches of them!

Kinda destroys their argument that Obama has hurt the Country, doesn't it? I'll take that kind of hurt, anytime! And he's done it , in spite of the TEApublicans snapping at his heels every step of the way, like the mangy Little Dogs that they are!
