I think you were correct earlier. I think Bill Buckley was a founder of the National Review, but I never considered him a strong conservative. There were those heralding him a great conservative thinker, but many democrats and republicans alike considered him more of an academic. I found him to be in command of considerable data, but not a strong thinker, debater or far right conservative. Irrespective of what I think, I guess people remember what they will remember. Hearing Buckley's name brought back lots of memories for me. Later!

Well, on that point, you can take your pick.

PolitiFact has been both praised and criticized by independent observers, conservatives, and liberals alike. Conservative bias and liberal bias have been alleged, and criticisms have been made of attempts to fact-check statements that cannot be truly "fact-checked".

Despite potential budget cuts being 4 days away and Congress and the Administration have been negotiating to avoid them, Obama's Department of Homeland Security has already started releasing hundreds of illegal aliens held in local jails in anticipation of automatic "sequestration" cuts - out of a planned total of more than 10,000 aliens to be released.
Keep in mind, the so-called "cuts" (which aren't really cuts - just less increases)- do not go into effect until next fiscal year.
WHY release criminals to begin with - and WHY do so when there are not any cuts yet???
They don't have to release anyone. That is their way of demonstrating against the budget cuts. They could cut somewhere else, but choose not to. It's like a child that doesn't get his or her way and cries to let everyone know. Homeland Security is saying, "you cut our budget, we will release immigrants, so there. I guess we showed you."

It's kind of sad that our country is managed by politics instead of what is good for the country. Imagine how loud they are going to cry when real cuts are forced upon us when no one will lend us anymore money because we can't pay our debts.$17 Trillion of debt and climbing, we will shortly be at this point.

Hey Pete, Here's another interesting personality!

Mussolini was the founder of Fascism and leader of Italy from 1922 to 1943. He allied Italy with Nazi Germany and Japan in World War Two.

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was born on 29 July 1883 in Predappio in northern central Italy. His father was a blacksmith. Employment prospects in the area were poor so in 1902 Mussolini moved to Switzerland, where he became involved in socialist politics. He returned to Italy in 1904, and worked as a journalist in the socialist press, but his support for Italy's entry into World War One led to his break with socialism. He was drafted into the Italian army in September 1915.

In March 1919, Mussolini formed the Fascist Party, galvanising the support of many unemployed war veterans. He organised them into armed squads known as Black Shirts, who terrorised their political opponents. In 1921, the Fascist Party was invited to join the coalition government.

By October 1922, Italy seemed to be slipping into political chaos. The Black Shirts marched on Rome and Mussolini presented himself as the only man capable of restoring order. King Victor Emmanuel invited Mussolini to form a government. Mussolini gradually dismantled the institutions of democratic government and in 1925 made himself dictator, taking the title 'Il Duce'. He set about attempting to re-establish Italy as a great European power. The regime was held together by strong state control and Mussolini's cult of personality.

In 1935, Mussolini invaded Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) and incorporated it into his new Italian Empire. He provided military support to Franco in the Spanish Civil War. Increasing co-operation with Nazi Germany culminated in the 1939 Pact of Steel. Influenced by Hitler, Mussolini began to introduce anti-Jewish legislation in Italy. His declaration of war on Britain and France in June 1940 exposed Italian military weakness and was followed by a series of defeats in North and East Africa and the Balkans.

In July 1943, Allied troops landed in Sicily. Mussolini was overthrown and imprisoned by his former colleagues in the Fascist government. In September, Italy signed an armistice with the Allies. The German army began the occupation of Italy and Mussolini was rescued by German commandos. He was installed as the leader of a new government, but had little power. As the Allies advanced northwards through Italy, Mussolini fled towards Switzerland. He was captured by Italian partisans and shot on 28 April 1945.

And House Judiciary Committee Chairman, Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), proves that TEApublicans are still experts when it comes to distorting the truth with his comments on the matter.

Itís abhorrent that President Obama is releasing criminals into our communities to promote his political agenda on sequestration. By releasing criminal immigrants onto the streets, the administration is needlessly endangering American lives.

Never mind that Gillian M. Christensen, a spokeswoman for ICE, stated that the detainees being released were not ones with criminal records and were determined not to pose a threat to the public. A reported 45% of all detainees do not have criminal records, and since less than 5% of all detainees are being released, itís a pretty good bet that none of them are the hardened criminals of which Goodlatte speaks.

The following news account appears to refute the claim that only (NON-CRIMINAL) aliens are being released onto American streets. If you have a definate cite where DHS officials are stipulating otherwise (publicly)I would appreciate the reference. Thanks!

The Department of Homeland Security has started releasing hundreds of illegal immigrants held in local jails in anticipation of automatic budget cuts, in a move one Arizona sheriff called politically motivated -- and dangerous.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said Tuesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement released more than 500 detainees in his county alone over the weekend. A spokesman for Babeu told FoxNews.com that ICE officials have said they plan to release a total of nearly 10,000 illegal immigrants.
The numbers, though, are in dispute.

ICE officials said that it's unclear how many ultimately might be released and that only 303 have been released from four Arizona facilities so far, though all those are in Pinal County. According to ICE, 2,280 detainees are still in custody in those facilities.
Babeu described the move as a "mass budget pardon" and suggested the administration was going to unnecessary lengths to demonstrate the impact of the so-called sequester.

"President Obama would never release 500 criminal illegals to the streets of his hometown, yet he has no problem with releasing them in Arizona. The safety of the public is threatened and the rule of law discarded as a political tactic in this sequester battle," he said.
An ICE spokeswoman confirmed the plans without specifying how many illegal immigrants might be released.

Spokeswoman Gillian Christensen said ICE had directed field offices to make sure the "detained population" is "in line with available funding." She stressed that ICE would continue to prosecute the cases while keeping them under supervision.
"Over the last week, ICE has reviewed several hundred cases and placed these individuals on methods of supervision less costly than detention," she said. "All of these individuals remain in removal proceedings. Priority for detention remains on serious criminal offenders and other individuals who pose a significant threat to public safety."

The announcement comes after DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano on Monday warned about the potential impact of the cuts. She said the department "would not be able to maintain the 34,000 detention beds as required by Congress."
"We're doing our very best to minimize the impacts of sequester. But there's only so much I can do," she said. "I'm supposed to have 34,000 detention beds for immigration. How do I pay for those?"
Republicans in Congress, though, have challenged the numerous Obama Cabinet secretaries warning about the devastating impact to their departments. With cuts set to take effect Friday and no deal in sight to avert them, Republicans claim the administration is trying to make the cuts seem worse than they are -- some want to give the administration more leeway so that high-priority agencies don't get hit as hard.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., called the move to release illegal immigrants "abhorrent." "By releasing criminal immigrants onto the streets, the administration is needlessly endangering American lives," he said in a statement.
Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., also said "these savings could be much more safely and rationally achieved."

In Arizona, Babeu slammed the move, painting his community as a victim of gridlock in Washington.
"Clearly, serious criminals are being released to the streets of our local communities by this mass budget pardon. These are illegals that even President Obama wants to deport. This is insane that public safety is sacrificed when it should be the budget priority that's safeguarded," he said.

The trouble is that Linda does not feel that way. She is the queen of name-callers and will not hesitate to call anyone names just because they do not agree with her. It is common on the left. Just like last night on the Hannity show on FNC. He invited Rep Keith Ellison(D MN) on the show and all the Rep would do was interupt, and name call. No points made at all. He called Sean a yellow journalist, a liar, and immoral. Then later when he had a female Liberal on(her name escapes me), she called all Conservatives fat asses. She complained about stopping and picking up a doughnut for Sean on the way to the show(it was a prop for their segment Mayor Bloomberg). She gave it to him then called all Conservatives fat asses. When he asked her if any Liberals were fat her only reply was "not me". Seems it is the only way most Liberals can argue is with scare tactics and false accusations. But then we knew that from our experience with Linda.

It's not my numbers, Willard, but you could , at least, read the rest of the Post if you're not going to read the Article. You know, the part that says less than 5% are being released, so the odds of any of them being Criminals is very low or None...or words to that effect.
Geez, don't any of you People ever read a full Post, much less read it carefully? No wonder, you always get everything that's posted, so wrong and confused! I always thought you just couldn't understand what you read, but the problem is that unless it agrees with your preconceived ideas, YOU DON'T REALLY READ THEM! Now, how do you expect to ever learn anything that way? Or, do you think you already know everything?...SMH...and rolling my eyes...
