Tourism in NY

Isn't there a developer in NY who has any vision at all? Why develop parks and cities to appeal to the 80 year old GOMERS? All the developers and mayors should take a trip to Canada side of Niagara Falls or to Orlando and see how they do tourism right. And notice the difference between Niagara Falls in NY and in Canada. Canada can do tourism and NY is great at sending their tourists away and across to Canada. They develop things that will appeal to young families and, yes, they charge for them. They get rich that way but also it creates things to do. Even in this economy people have enough to spend on amusement parks and recreation. But, NY fails to develop anything appealing. And, for those of you about to suggest a nice walk in the forest or smelling the roses, can it please. Even miniture golf is better anywhere outside NY. In NY the miniture golf places are ugly and usually in ugly surroundings. IN other places they develop them in nice surroundings so that they are visually appealing. Business that specialize in one season activities like skiiing need to develop equally appealing activities for the other seasons and for days when the weather is lousy for the main event. Train your staff so that they understand what it takes to draw tourists instead of annoy them. Teach them to be inviting instead of nasty. Teach them about places to recommend for dinner, theater, recreation. Tell them to find the answers to tourist question instead of suggesting the internet. Etc.

The problem is central NY. I've lived here since 1975 and it's not a very friendly area. People THINK of themselves here as "warm and friendly" but that's just because lame news shows force that idea. If you are just driving through CNY, you meet the RUDEST most backwards people! And some of the areas I've seen here, omg, ONEIDA? Talk about garbage people! Canastota? UGH! Even those so-called nice spots, like Skaneateles or Cazevovia, are just packed with natives who can't manage a civil word to any stranger. Uppity delusional jerks.
