Mauney Memorial Library in Kings Mountain will celebrate Black History Month on Feb. 26 with a discussion of civil rights in North Carolina.

Karl Campbell, assistant professor of history at Appalachian State University, will present 'Sen. Sam Ervin: Just a Country Lawyer.'

Ervin is most often remembered as the affable, Bible-quoting country lawyer who chaired the Watergate hearings in 1973. His quaint verses during the Watergate scandal endeared him to many Americans and contributed to the downfall of President Richard Nixon. Read more
