The Mound Bayou Taborian Hospital was the start of my Medical career, I hope and pray that this building will reopen. It is a landmark in Mound Bayou.

For several years now, we have been working to get the Taborian Hospital restored. I TOO was born in that hospital AND worked there as a grown-up. We have researched the history and travel back and forth with potential assistance resources...even in the recession. We are pleased to see that there is concern and really hope that the support voiced will materialize when the time comes. Positive forces and spirits are requested and prayed for! Please squash any uninformed criticisms and pray that the efforts to restore the Hospital that have been ongoing will be blessed. Some years ago, there was a fund-raiser attempt and the residents and supporters could be counted on two hands. Remaining committed WE ARE WORKING ON IT! Please contain and make positive your input and be ready to contribute to the restoration of Taborian Hospital for the sacrifices made by so many to create such a wonderful, inspirational legacy addition to the history of Mound Bayou. Remember and reflect on the importance and be ready to demonstrate positive, constructive, unselfish, support in the very near future. WE ARE WORKING ON IT!

The International Order of Twelve, of Knights and Daughters of Tabor was founded by Father Moses Dickson. Have you been in touch at all with the Friends of Father Dickson? They have been good a raising funds and perhaps might have ideas to share.

They have a website and sponsor an annual cleanup of Father Moses Dickson cemetery. I attended a couple of years because my family is from St. Louis and I have family buried there.

Perhaps a local annual event to keep your efforts in the news and a web site that lets people know where to donate money. On websites you can shares your stories and photos. It sounds like Taborian meant a lot to you and many people in your community and Meharry Medical College students.

I am praying for you and hope you are successful.

The City of Mound Bayou, Knights & Daughters of Tabor with support and encouragement from Congressman Bennie Thompson and with Atty. Derrick Johnson as guest speaker hosted a benefit to restore the Taborian Hospital and other historic sites in Mound Bayou in March 2011. The event was well attended and people who want to be a part of the project can purchase bricks and be a part of the Mound Bayou Save Our Legacy Walkway to be put in front of the hospital. Supporters can buy bricks that will serve as memorials to descendants and/or supporters from www.bricksrus.com/order/moundbayou.sol
There were some doctors there who worked at Taborian . It was a good event !
