I have passed through this "license check" 6 times since I moved to this area in may. I am curious why lumpkin county police insist on doing this in the same spot so frequently. Not that I have anything to hide but this is clearly a violation of 4th ammendment rights. The police must have probable cause that a crime is or has been commited to stop a driver. DUI checkpoints are legal if it is deemed for the better of the community however, each time I was told they were doing a license check. Because of the frequency of checks in the exact same location, The corner of rail hill rd and rock house rd., This is considered blatent violation of constitutional rights and abuse of power pertaining to SCOTUS ruling. I am fully aware that when you accept a drivers license you are signing away your 4th ammendment rights but is'nt that in it'self a violation?

I copied tis from the constitution.

People are not shorn of all Fourth Amendment protection when they step from their homes onto the public sidewalks. Nor are they shorn of those interests when they step from the sidewalks into their automobiles.

So it appears that we dont sign those rights away when getting a drivers license. We are only bound by the laws pertaining to vehicle safety, driving safely, current tag and such.
I have learned that random stops without cause are unconstitutional but at the same time license checks at the same place so frequently prove that the intent is not for safety but only to issue traffic tickets which does not justify the violation of ones freedoms.
Also, as much as I support law enforcement in their effort to make our roads safe from drunk and careless drivers I do not feel my rights should be violated. If they see something wrong then they should pull THAT car over but intrusion into law abiding citizens just to catch 1 criminal in 100 cars stoped at the checkpoint is just not justifiable. As usual, it appears the motive hear is money, not truely for safety.
