Yeah, that's just a wild idea that occurred to me, like many of the other posts I read here. Isn't it fun to make up things?
Funny one Skeptic! Didn't know you had a sense of humor.

Ha Ha....The irony here is the board has probably positioned itself and the POA to do such a hideous thing. I wouldn't put it past this board to attempt to exercise some sort of imminent domain clause they put in the POA fine print. Tell us what you and your board peers have discussed on that subject Skeptic.

I fondly remember attending a monthly meeting several years ago and the developer of the Summerlin community pleaded with the board to allow a road to be cut from the back side of Sumemrlin to SG. The proposed road was to connect Highwoods Pkwy. Jim Graser was 100% in favor of it. Now whose to say this board won't offer up this piece of land to the new convention center? Seems doable. The intersection to Highwoods would be just feet from where the proposed Sumemrlin connection was.

Why is that so unbelievable? Look at the aerial map and you will see a road extension from the back parking lot of the Performing Arts Centre headed right for Highwoods!!!

This board has made many a stupid decision in the past. This would be right up their ally.

Put your egos aside and do the right thing and do what's best for SG.
Can I offer up my 2 cents? Yesterday driving through Sumemrgrove towards Publix on the West side I was aghast at the condition of the common area along Highwoods Parkway. Just before the townhouses on the right the sidewalk is completely covered in red mud. This is due to the erosion of the hill. Take some money earmarked to improve the already beautiful parkway and correct the erosion.

Haven't you learned anything? This board doesn't want to do anything like that. Unless the problem can be seen by all residents they turn a deaf ear and blind eye to it. Its too much like right to stop the mud washing and erosion. Like you said, they would rather continue to throw thousands of dollars on the already beautiful parkway.

First you will have to convince the landscape committee there is a problem. Unless it impacts Cindy and Lana personally a problem does not exist. Remember, they have egos that have to be stroked. Correcting an erosion problem on some side street does not offer the accolades and ego boost they need. Best case scenario is they get a homeowner or two to say thanks. Or correcting an erosion problem does not allow them to show off their master gardener prowess.

Unless these two people are convinced there is a problem the erosion will continue. The board has set the standard, unless Lana and Cindy say jump they will remain seated with their heads in the sand, one finger in their ear, sitting on the other.

Skeptic - why don't you bring this issue up at the next board meeting or board workshop?

I could deny that I'm on the board, but you've made up your mind and wouldn't believe me, so there's no point. Perhaps you're on the board and are using Topix to rant about things you can't get the rest of the board members to agree with.

I've been called many things on here. I've been accused of being a few different people, but I've never been so insulted until now. How dare you print such blasphemous words!

Suggesting that I may be a board member ..........not on your life, and of all people you should know better.

Since the parkway "renovation" $$$$$$$ has been brought up, what's the latest on that money pit? Thought it was supposed to have already been started. Isn't that why there was not any pine straw put down in that area? Are the two who are responsible for this too busy baking and taking the taste test? Or have they already busted the budget and waiting to get another bit of monies $$$$$$$$$ for next years budget, too. Anyone know the answer to this one?

I agree with you 100%. Septic ought to know the answer.

The entire landscaping budget is a sham. This is one of the largest expenses for our community and what do we have to show for it????? Who has the guts to answer that one? The board agrees to higher contracts year after year with NatureScapes (no other company is even considered), more and more flower beds are being replaced with mulch beds, several sidewalks are being washed away due to neglect and lack of maintenance. Has anyone actually viewed the landscape project list? Does it consist of a single item? Do the people on that committee realize there are other areas throughout SG that are in desperate need of attention?

When is this board going to wake up? This board continues to throw money at the landscaping budget all because of two people! Does anyone on the board know how to question where the money is going and if the work is needed? Or is every person on the board agreeing with Lana and Cindy because of their master gardener titles???

Being a master gardener does not mean one knows how to manage money or prioritize!!!!!!!! Being a board member obviously doesn't either!!!!

Agree Whoop. Let's say, squeaky wheel gets the grease. Whenever a group shows up at a meeting and squeaks loud enough, they grease it, to shut it up. Then, it's back to business as usual. Same ole, same ole. Question, so much money spent on the landscape budget, where are the members at POA meetings? Why isn't their report given? Hey Prez...send them a message to show up and give some updates. Don't sit there so dumb founded. I say, out with the old members and get some new members.

Wikki, I usually agree with much of what you have to say and your observations, but this time I'm not so sure you hit the nail on the head. Take for example the three musketeers that are running the covenants committee. They are all the time squeaking and squawking about something and the board NEVER responds. It appears the more they squawk the less interested the board is. Drive through SG, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Mark my words, the board's hands-off approach with covenants WILL come back to bite us all in the butt.....or in the pocket book.

You mean there are only 3 people running the covenants committee, with this size neighborhood? What about the board and property manager, do they not ride the community, too?

Does anyone really know how many people are on that committee?I know from past meetings there were just three ladies involved. I remember several years ago there were so many members that the board but a cap on the number of members. That group disbanded because the property manager refused to do her job and the board refused to make her do her job. It's deja vu all over again.

To answer your question, it is my opinion the property manager does not drive the community. if she does she does it once a month. A lot of good that does! When she does do it she does not do a thorough job. Her tactic is to just hit the high spots. If its glaring she might note it. If a lawn is full of weeds, just keep them cut. As for the board. This group of folks are trying their hardest to not do anything. Remember the current president tries to find ways to shorten meetings and limit resident involvement. Does that sound like a recipe for success? Oh, and as long as the property manager says she doesn't have time to do anything they don't make her do it. The Townhall is kept locked most of the time. Residents have to make an appointment to meet with the property manager. But, current, former board members and committee people spend most of the day gossiping with the property manager. The property manager should stop wasting time chit chatting and gossiping and do the job we pay big $$$$ for.

I never thought I would say this about the landscape committee, but they have done an outstanding job with the Summergrove entrance at Publix. The flowerbed under the Summergrove sign is such a marvelous, perfect mound of dirt. There is no flower in sight. It's the perfect eyesore and makes our community look less than attractive. But, keep in mind all other entrances are planted. Well, except the entrance off of Lower Fayetteville Road at Belltree Circle. I guess we ran out of funds???? Maybe a few residents can go up to Wally World later today and buy a few of the marked down half dead flowers and plant them. So kudos to Lana and Cindy.

P.S.- be sure to notice the entrance and blooming flowers at The Overlook. That's where Cindy and Lana live. Who was it who said these people have have their own agenda?

I explained that situation in post #925 on April 9: "There used to be more people on that committee until someone on the board decided that it would be a great idea to post a list of all the members of all the committees, with no exceptions for anything sensitive such as that committee. That caused most of the members of the covenants committee to quit."

Check out 275 Highwoods Pkwy. Lawn is one great big bed of weeds, but the blue painter's tape over the garage door windows take the cake. My guess is the home modification group approved it or maybe the board member that lives across the street.

Blue tape on a white door, what's coming next.....cars parked in the yard and make shift fences?

Oh wait.....those already exist here too.

GIVE ME A BREAK.....are you that naive? So what if names of members were posted? Anyone, a resident, a non-resident, a homeowner, a renter, anyone can attend a committee meeting and identify who the members are?

So whats the big secret? What's sensitive? Resident's make the decision what info to put out in the directory. All one has to do is go to a meeting ask the member of the committee their name, look them up in the SG directory and booyah!!

The people quit because they were constantly bringing up covenant issues and the PM and board did NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Residents can only scream and yell so much. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. You can tell a PM to do something, but if they don't want to..........
