the word is out that summergate is going to DROP THE restrictive covenants and restrictions the first day of APRIL due to the neighborhood is changing and no longer the majority of the homes are owner occupied.II will be glad to see this come to an end.My friend lives there and he cannot even work on his car in his driveway without some idiot sending him a letter.

Yipee! "Let the Good Times Roll", is what I say!!! Going to be a fun time this summer in summergate! Hope no one minds if let my cousin park his 18 wheeler in the street and by the way...looking forward to posting signs in my yard for "free oil change" and "tire rotation". Just line them up, is what I say.

Ha! ha! ha! Do you believe everything anyone tells you? Just how gullible are you? Your friend gets a letter when he works on his car in the driveway because he (or his landlord if he's a tenant) signed an agreement that he wouldn't do that.

It makes the neighborhood look trashy and lowers property values. That's what it is to me.

It's a JOKE. Why do you take everything so literal? Where's your sense of humor?

Skeptic, don’t get too invested in the conversation with the friend they are just trying to yank your chain. You ought to know better. No letter was sent or would ever be sent. Our association doesn’t do such things.

Sorry to disappoint the zoomster. I’m not Chuck, Chuck Wilson or Mr. Wilson.

Hey, did everyone receive their award winning SG newsletter in the mail? It’s official! We are right back where we started. Two steps forward and one giant step backwards. Wild bill eaton took up valuable add space in the newsletter to outline his objectives for the board and the association for the coming year and he did it with three words…...reduced meeting times. Really??? Are you freaking serious? Wild bill eaton, the president of the SummerGrove POA has officially stated his objective for the coming year and that is to reduce the time spent in meetings. Oh my and we thought Cindy was a moron. Wow. I had to sit and digest that one a while. Is that the best you can do bill? That ranks high up on the list of idiotic statements by board members. The current social chair still holds the top spot when he was the treasurer when his budget presentation consisted of we’re in good shape we got money!! How these people get elected is beyond comprehension. On second thought, we know how these people got elected. Did you also read that homeowners are being involved in the meetings less and less? Homeowners are not allowed to address the board except during their special allotted part of the meeting. Homeowners are strongly encouraged to submit questions two (2) days in advance. Really? These people lobby for proxies and highjack an election, change the association, make the rules up as they go, we (homeowners) get pushed farther and farther aside and we sit idly by and watch it. I gues we deserve what we get.

I also applaud the covenants ladies for undertaking a “picture book” approach to covenant enforcement. They get the picture. They realize the power of pictures when trying to get a point across. They have identified that this elementary approach may just be the missing link in covenants enforcement because people obviously are unable to understand words. But, the effort these ladies are putting into this project will be in vain because without support of the board and without proper administration by the pm the root problem will continue to exist. The people that are continuing to violate the covenants are not going to stop until they are made to stop. And they are not being made to stop. The board has to understand the word enforcement. They are too busy trying to figure out how to reduce meeting times. They should spend quality meeting times figuring out how to enforce the covenants. Without covenant enforcement you have people doing their own thing with a trailer park mentality. People know they will get away with not complying. Drive through the community and be sure to count the number of trash bins visible from the street. Sunday I counted 22 in the lakeshore/oak park area alone. This included the Einstein’s that try to hide them behind shrubs on the side of their house. Ladies I applaud your effort, but until you have a board that takes this seriously you are pi$$ing in the wind.

I didn't see a "smiley" in your post. If you're making a joke you should give people a clue. At least one other poster seems to have taken you literally as well.

I don't understand any of you! If I lived in summergrove the only thing I would be worried about is the killer that murdered that young boy and has not been found! I would be scared to let my kids out to play!

BTW. To the residents in SG that have signs in the their front windows, of BEWARE OF DOG. Do you have any idea how absolutely tacky that is? Is it just a scare tactic? It looks stupid.

you don't HAVE any property values.houses today ar e DIME a dozen. You made a HORRIBLE investment trying to build equity in a HOUSE you overpaid for when you bought it.I suggest you take what you can get and MOVE OUT if you dont like your neighbor working on his car in the driveway or the neighbor down the street bring his tractor trailer home. He probably makes more than you anyway, so he can do what he wants .build you a privacy fence around your crib and put a guard on it.Does the property management assiciation also tell you which neighbors wife you can sleep with?or KEEP SCORE?

The covenants I (and every other owner in SummerGrove) signed didn't say anything about that. However, they do prohibit working on a car in the driveway.(That's what garages are for.)

According to Zillow (admittedly not the most accurate source), my house is worth 80% of what I paid for it. Not great. But not bad, either.

And this is the very reason we decided to live in a covenant enforced community.

The prez' message in the newsletter has really upset me, so much so that I had to throw it in the trash. I couldn't have that smug face staring back at me from the cover. It was burning my eyes. Holy water, please!

House value is irrelevant. Income is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that EVERY SummerGrove owner signed a valid, binding contract to follow the CC&Rs. Anyone who can't agree to do that should move.
