I am looking to relocate from Indiana to the KIA plant in West Point. I have been looking at homes in the SG are and thought this would be a great place to live. I thought with all the amenities it would be great for my kids age 13 and 15 to meet new kids and not feel so alianated. I'm just a father wanting this move to go as smothly as possible for my family. After what I have read here definatley scares me and think I may look elswhere to live. I thought I was moving to an area that has that southern hospitality.

Now Bean, let your kids be the judge of where you would live. They would absolutely love the pools, tennis courts, playground areas and Ashley Park for shopping/movies. There is also PTC. This is simply a forum for "comments" on how the board/committees run, etc. Ummmm...would certain comments actually prevent me from living somewhere? No.(Maybe I wouldn't want to live next door to Elmer Fudd.) You will love the weather here, not a lot of snow as in Indiana. Good luck house hunting, lots of great deals.

Kudos...worth reposting. I think our efforts are better served by pressuring the board. Getting enough signatures to go around the board would be a difficult task. The option is there but difficult to accomplish. That's why the by-laws were written that way by Pathways so that homeowner's could not "rise up" at the drop of a hat every time they wanted to change something.
True. Any property management company we have, regardless, will abide by the direction of our board members. PERIOD. If we need changes made, it should be heard at meetings from the residents directly to the board. Only they can decide how slack or strong our management company performs their service.

Bean, we’re not all bad here, just a few. By reading this forum you’ll pick out the bad apples. If you contact the property manager to inquire about SG be sure to take what she says with a grain of salt, we do. She will most likely try to put you in contact with “an outstanding” real estate professional. Again, take the recommendation with a grain of salt. Hmmm a thought just occurred to me, after all these years I wonder if the pm gets a referral fee from his highness, the social chair, for every family looking to purchase a home in SG that the pm refers to him? I would assume she receives quite a number of calls. That would be a conflict of interest would it not? I wonder if the tennis committee chair could shed some light on that question. I also wonder if there is an over abundance of referrals given to “the bakery” for those people looking to rent the Town Hall facility and in need of such services. My guess the answer is yes. Does it matter that “the bakery” is owned by the FORMER association president? The social chair had no problem making a public plea in the newsletter for his good buddies at Pubilx.

See how the name of this blog came about? Cow Patty….It gets deeper and deeper. Pretty soon we all will have to wear our hip boots at the Town Hall.

There is southern hospitality in SG. We just don’t take too kindly to folks taking advantage of their power and treating residents like second class citizens and making poor decisions with our funds. If you read through these posts you will see the problems are with the people running the community and NOT the community itself.

I think the Beaner is a "set-up" comment. Try alittle reverse psychology. Where is "Deep Throat" when we need them?

I am a SG resident who linked over to this site while viewing the bios of our upcoming candidates for this year's election. Someone "referenced" this and now that I have read it-I am amazed. So here are my thoughts: people here do PAY to cover things that are important to us, such as maintaining a community pool, flowers, etc... thus why we chose to live here. If you didn't want to pay, you should have lived somewhere else. Seems like some of the people who are running for the upcoming SG board elections may possibly be posting negative comments on here too. If you blast where you live and think it's going to benefit the result of the election by voting you in and others out-you are dead wrong. All you are doing is creating negativity where YOU live. Thus, not wanting others to buy a home where YOU live, bringing YOUR property value down as well as others here who do care to live here. Realize something; you may need to move out of SG one day and your negative opinion may have lead to someone not buying YOUR home. It's called KARMA. For the people who work in homes here but live elsewhere and have a negative comment..... I'd like to see your home. There are foreclosures everywhere, and you should not judge if you don't know a family's circumstance,(unless of course, you want to be judged yourself). As much as this is an open forum how about people learning how to act like adults for a change and say something that is beneficial. Hence why one of the reasons our nation is collapsing. You sound worse then a bunch of kids with the "he said, she said" garbage. If you have a vested interest in making the right choice to continue to have all of the wonderful things that SG has to offer then do the right thing. I have lived in many states and in many levels of different types of communities. Summergrove is absolutely beautiful. There are MORE caring residents who do take this seriously and work extremely hard at maintaining things to live here. We ALL chose to live here. Most people do not have amenities such as more then one community pool, tennis courts, a lake, a small boat ramp, etc... and most of all people who actually TAKE CARE OF THEIR PROPERTIES. Working hard and living the American dream and trying to maintain it. If you don't live here and don't know the full experience then there is no point in voicing something. If you do live here then you should very much post all of the great things and not just what has personally pissed you off. Have a great day everyone!!
Could this be the "Beaner"???

No this is not a set up. Just scanning all info of the area and stumbled onto your blog. And no I'm not the Beaner, but he does have some great points. I'm just a guy trying to make the right decision for his family. Question: How is the high school in this area? My kids are from a small school and they may be intimidated by a large school.

Bean, my advice is to talk to a realtor that lives and sells in Summergrove. (If you are absolute about moving here.) They will be able to tell you the scoop on which schools your kids will attend. There are different zones, so you will need to be aware of this. All high schools Coweta are huge. Very hard on teenagers to transfer. They will adjust, given time. My advice would be to come during the week and take a quick tour of all high schools. (Newnan High, Coweta High, Northgate.) Peachtree City is an option as well. That's Fayette County and a couple great HS as well. Do your research.

Tons of houses to choose from. Make an offer! Ride the street before you buy! Peachtree City (PTC) too many golf carts, they think they own the road.(They do! Little kids drive them everywhere and it's dangerous.) Stay in Newnan.

You will need to do a little more than “ride the streets”. Dig deeper. Many places have great curb appeal but when you peel away that outer layer you see the dirt. Just read the start of this blog. As for golf carts, it is only a matter of time before Newnan allows them. In fact one of our board members is an advocate for golf carts on SG roads. A presentation has been made at a Newnan city council meeting. Remember, beware of the “Great and Mighty Cos” when looking for a realtor in this area (for those of you that are a little slow…that was a play on the Great and Mighty Oz in the Wizard of Oz. If you recall Oz was not as he projected himself. Sort of like the person in this reference does.)

Do you ever have anything positive to say?

Do I ever have anything positive to say? Why of course I do. It’s the holiday season..that’s a positive thing (if you like holidays). Here’s four other positive things. Cindy Bruce is off the board. Harley Vaughan is off the board. Jim Nagrelli is off the board and Steve Aviellas is off the board. I’m goint to ruin it for you now by saying two of the new board members cancel out so I guess we only net two positive things as far as new additions to the board goes. But the fact Cindy and most of her flying monkeys are gone is a huge positive.
Newnan56, you have to understand the ridiculous, petty and self-indulgent attitudes Cindy Bruce and her gang and how they demoralized residents in this community. What’s positive about that? Can YOU identify anything positive that Cindy Bruce and the flying monkeys did during their reign of shame? Regardless of any positives you may note, the way they handled the voting process was appalling and the cherry on top was the way they disrespected the hat lady. That was simply reprehensible.
This blog is full of people that have similar views. Not everyone agrees with me, but many have similar opinions of Cindy Bruce and the way her board ran this community. Ask them what they perceive to be positive. Ask the residents that have been disrespected by Cindy Bruce and her board over the years what’s positive. Don’t take one person’s perspective. Ask the residents that have HOA/POA administered lawn care service and how positive it is to receive a $1,500 bill because the property manager/property management company essentially forgot to bill residents for the increases from years gone by. Ask the residents that live around the “prison bar” fence how positive that fiasco is. Ask the resident that lives next door to the home with mold and mildew all over the side of their house or the weed filled front lawn how positive those things are. What’s positive about the landscape committee bucking protocol to ensure the outgoing board voted prematurely and passed a ridiculously high landscape contract for NatureScapes? Ask the residents that attend committee meetings with the intension of making a positive impact on their neighborhood, and have their ideas ignored because the committee members that have been involved forever and a day apparently know more, what’s positive about their experience. Why don’t you ask the hat lady about her experience? Get my drift????? It’s difficult to find much of anything positive in so much negativity.
I’m not one that views the world through rose colored glasses. I’m not naive. If that is what you want then I suggest you contact the social chair. If you want rah-rah-sis-boom-bah, again contact the social chair. I respect the fact you have the ability to post what you want here just like I do. If you don’t like what I post here, don’t read it. Before you click the Topix link exercise self control. The social chair exercises self control until the property manager tells him we are talking about him again.
