<quoted text>Regarding the armored vehicles, this type of vehicle is already in service within many policew departments. I would venture that they could've used something like one during the North Hollywood shootout a few years back. And you never know when the next Nakatomi Plaza might be taken over.

Did you happen to notice that the article clearly stated that the total purchase amount was for the next 4-5 years out, which would indicate that the total is not being purchased now, hence how can they be "stockpiling". For someone who is quick to question the comprehension abilities of others, you do seem to jump to conclusions quite a bit yourself.

Another point is that the amount of ammo used in a war, in this case the amount used in Iraq, has no bearing on the amount of ammo required for training personel in these various federal agencies.

Recycled fears, recycled lies.
Please - don't let them know - when Obama was elected I bought stock in gun and ammo manufacturers.

I figured the "Gun Stealin" campaign launched by the manufacturers prostitute group, the NRA, would cause gun and ammo prices to explode, and along with it profits.

Thanks NRA - as a lifetime member your total absence of ethics is a consistency I can count on.

Now what about the UN stockpiling weapons and ammo to invade America.

- THAT'S SCARY -

THE UN IS STOCKPILIN ASSAULT RIFLES AND ANMO - IT'LL ALL BE GONE SOON AND THEN HOW ARE WE GONNA PROTECT OUR FAMILIES FROM THEM SOCIALIST TOLUVIAN SHOCK TROOPS !

Sorry, one of my kids wants to travel through Europe after grad school and I gotta keep those profits up.

A little info on Obamacare fees:::
"Income: One of the top factors determining how much you'll pay next year is your income. That's because subsidies are available to those with incomes of up to 400% of the poverty line -- roughly $45,000 for an individual or $92,000 for a family of four. Some 57% of enrollees will receive subsidies, and those subsidies will cover nearly two-thirds of the premium, on average, according to the Congressional Budget Office's estimates.."

Question, So who pays the subsidies?????
Where does the subsidy money come from??
Is this money part of the fed reserve printing up over $85 billion a month?????? Again adding to the debt ten-fold??????

Come on Libbers, everyone wants to know the answers to these types of questions.

Even as his administration has faced intense scrutiny over a trio of controversies, President Obamaís approval rating hasnít suffered, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released Sunday.

Fifty-three percent of Americans said they approve of the job the president is doing, while 45 percent said they disapprove. Thatís virtually unchanged from an early April survey in which Obamaís approval/disapproval split was 51 percent to 47 percent.

Chickenbutt, I.O. says Obama isn't running again. Is that true?

Why does it matter to you what people do in the privacy of their own homes? It's not illegal, it doesn't harm anyone. People like you are very sad. As to unions - With the destruction of unions and the resulting drop in tax affected wages, the loss of benefits, the loss of pensions, the drop in home ownership, and all the other indicia of the destruction of the middle class,
along with
the incredible increase in productivity of the American worker that has caused the explosion in profits, the astounding amounts of cash held in reserve onshore and off shore, and the explosion in executive compensation,
and it seems impossible to me to argue that unions aren't essential to maintain the balance between capital and labor.
If the facts aren't sufficient, then simple common sense tells you that the Georgia giy with three kids and a wife to support is never, in a million years, going to be able to negotiate with a multi-billion dollar company over wages and benefits.
Remember a corporation is an amoral profit making entity whose sole purpose is to pay as little as possible for labor and other expenses, and charge as much as possible for the service or product. Corporations better be trying to screw employees- or they aren't doing their job.
Okay, great. My response didn't post - let's try again.

Your first sentence implies a cause and effect relationship that doesn't exist, especially in light of the fact that private sector union membership is down to less than 7%. It also blows the water out of your other claims.[and I will repeat, unions were a godsend after the decades of admitted abuse following the Industrial Revolution - too long hours, unsafe conditions, child labor, etc - but we are WAY beyond the abuses that unions helped stop].

But my biggest heartburn is with the public sector unions that are bankrupting local and state governments and are such a burden on the federal government. The pension plans that have been negotiated - often with the too willing compliance of those government officials - are completely unsupportable. When you have public sector employees who can retire in their 40's after only 20 years employment and have a pension of 80-90% of their last salary, we have a problem. And that pension may be based on the last year's salary alone, which has resulted in what is known as "pension spiking" - the employee artificially inflates their last year's salary through the use of overtime or unused leave time that pads that salary upon which the pension is based. The tax payer ends up paying 2 people for one job. First, the person who had the job for 20 years and second, the person who now has that job.
And that first person often, instead of just staying on in their first job, then takes a second government job - thus double dipping by receiving both a salary and the pension from their first govt job.
The public employee pensions used to be a selling point for govt jobs to offset the fact that the private sector used to pay more than public - but that is no longer the case. So we have public employees being paid more than their private sector counterparts and then receiving pensions that are both obscene and unsupportable. Time for an overhaul

Especially as to teachers unions - Why America would want to disassemble public eduction is amazing to me. The countries I visit respect and honor teachers and pay them as professionals at the highest amount that can be afforded.
That's why their kids kick our kids' butts academically.
That's why we send our kids to public schools in a district where we voted to pay higher school taxes than anywhere else nearby - to provide our kids better schools and pay higher salaries to teachers - so we get and maintain the best ones In addition, our family hires a tutor to help our kids with their A-P classes and with Spanish. Our business has opened accounts at office supply stores and the kids' teachers simply have to order anything and everything they want online and its delivered to their classroom, and charged to the business.
When you test the kids in our kids' classroom, that teacher is a genius.
Compare that with the school district less than 30 miles away where the majority of the kids attend school less than 68% of the days. 40% don;t speak English as their primary language. 95% come form families so poor they get free breakfast, lunch, and supplies. 60% come from single parent homes with the parent having less than a grade school education.
That district also has a large number of "special needs" students - do you think a charter school would like to spend the extra tens of thousands each of those kids require? Under your plan- don't they get thrown in the ditch ?
Those teachers must be deserve to be fired because their kids' test scores suck.
Vouchers only make it worse by diverting funds the schools desperately need to "special" schools for the chosen few. The majority suffer to benefit the few.
Why do we want to "disassemble public education" - because in its current state - IT DOESN"T WORK any longer. Teachers' unions have a stranglehold on the education system and their emphasis is on protecting their members and their bureaucracy regardless of the impact on the student.
Schools can't fire incompetent or even abusive teachers because the full power of the union will come down on them and drown them in legal fees, so they just live with a bad teacher (sorry, kids) or put them somewhere out of the classroom and hire a new teacher and pay two people for the same job.

Most unions require "last hire, first fired" in their contracts. Helena Ritchie, Hartford CT is a great example, outstanding teacher with great results in her classroom, but when a teacher's position was cut she was the last hired, so despite being a highly effective teacher - the principal had no discretion in terms of keeping her and firing a less stellar teacher - she had to go. And that is the case in far too many schools.

But forget ALL of the above: YOUR quote:
"That's why we send our kids to public schools in a district where we voted to pay higher school taxes than anywhere else nearby - to provide our kids better schools and pay higher salaries to teachers - so we get and maintain the best ones" THIS! THIS! THIS!

Do you not see the irony in your statement. THAT is what competition in our schools is all about. Give the parents control of that tax money associated with their child and let the schools compete for that money - and that includes the special needs children and the children from less than optimal homes.
Let the schools compete for the best teachers and watch the children thrive. There will be no tolerance for sub par teachers. I don't need to make any other arguments - you've made it yourself.

The point presented was whether Homeland security used more ammo than the military.
Are you saying the only time military fires their weapons are in a war?
Such an ignorant statement deserves clarification.
No, the comparison was originally made in this article which was then referenced in other articles and blogs. But it's an apples to oranges comparison that does not take into account the difference in mission training between the military and law enforcement, one being for a war zone while the other is in a civilian environment.

A number of other issues are not even considered in this discussion:

- has there been an increase in the number of agents within these agencies that require training

- has there been a change in the training regime or frequency of requalification

...As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.

"I was really angry when I heard that" or,
"I have asked for their resignation....end of problem" or,
