Man accused of using online chat to lure teen girl for sex

A 23-year-old Port Orange man thought he was traveling Thursday to Clermont to have sex with a 14-year-old girl he met online, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

If a man decides to rob a bank then turns around at the last minute because he is not a bank robber... what do you do. I actuaaly know the defendant. He may have made a stupid mistake but it was not his intention to molest a child. Should this young man of 23 with no criminal history (who was arrested after not going through with it) be coined a child molester for the rest of his life. Are we beyond any sense of how our laws (which these I applaud) can catch people they were not intended to catch. Good to know that the media is their to be judge, jury, and executioner.

I was just checking out stories and came across this one, it appears I am very late, but I thought I would comment on it anyway. There is clearly NO comparison between a man thinking about a bank robbery and what this guy did. He did in fact solicit sex from a under age girl right, and he did attempt to meet with her, is that right? His crime was the solicitation itself, his sickness is what motivated the attempt to meet with her. I don't know you or him, but if you have any kids I would never let him near them. He is not going to get better. If it was his first attempt at meeting with a child, he may have only met and that was it, maybe not though. You however, can rest assured that it is going to become a bigger and strong desire he has got to satisfy, he has become a predator, and he preys on our young. It is not likely a sexual thing that drives him, but a power thing.
The man is now an animal and should be locked up, and after working in the prison system I say locked up to never again be released, he will always be a P.O.S. predator. Sorry, if he is someone you called a friend, but any of us can be fooled.

While all of you are jumping at this man, havnt u thought that this 14 year old girl is as much to blame for this as he is? Who in their right mind gives their adress or any other info online? This girl was obviously asking for trouble. If she and many other stupid little girls didnt give out any information about themselves to complete strangers, there would be less of these men out to get some. Maybe she was the one who wanted to hook up with this guy, shes as much to blame as he is...

14 years old are still children, no she is not as much to blame. He is the adult in this situation, and no matter who initiated contact he should have known better. The fact that little girls appeal to him is his sickness, the fact that he attempted to meet with her makes him a sexual predator, for life. Even if he never again tries this we can not risk our children's safety, he must now be labeled and dealt with.
