I live in east Tennessee and would like to live in Clermont 6 months of the year and east Tennessee the other 6 months. I have a job up here anytime I want it. I would have to get a job down there though to pay my bills. What do you think?

Hey Rosco,

I think you would probably end up working in Orlando depending on what you do for a living...

My husband and I are looking to move to Florida this year. We've looked into the areas of Deland, Debary and Orange City. All look good! I am interested however in any information about Clermont. What is the area like? What's the possibility of finding a job like there? Good places to eat? Good places to shop? How are pets welcome there? Any info would be great! Thanks!!

Clermont was beautiful 20 years ago - I grew up there. Now it is endless shopping plazas and traffic. Glad that I live in TN now.

If you enjoy working for minimum wage, there's plenty of work here. Don't try to afford a home and food, though! You'll have to commute, probably to Orlando, as Leesburg has a dearth of decent paying jobs.

It's hotter than the hinges of h e l l in summer here, like most of Florida. Hurricanes, mosquitoes, roaches, drought, low wages.

I'm a native born Floridian, I know of what I speak.

I grew up in Groveland, 5 miles away. In the 1960's and 70's this area was a wonderful place....especially to raise kids. It was safe, friendly, drug-free, and everyone knew everyone. I knew how fortunate I was to grow up during those "Leave It to Beaver Days". Like many, I left for bigger Towns at age 18. Well, due to unforseen circumstances, I am back....and I so sad to see what has become of both Groveland and Clermont. The WORST about Clermont is the "Big City" like traffic! It flows fairly well, but reminds me of traffic that is seen in much bigger towns. Groveland still has little, when it comes to retail stores, so most Folks still drive to Clermont to shop. Now, someone was 100% right when it comes to the weather. It is very hot and extremely humid down here. Also, eery day I step outside my house, I run into a Snake, all kinds of Bugs, a sneeky Armadillo, Mosquitos, Roaches, and yesterda.....I saw 2-3 of these white snake looking things that REALLY grossed me out! Never seen anything like it. Someone said they me be underground "Mole" like things. Yikes!
Anyway, if you can live in a nice house or condo perhaps, around the lake in Clermont....that would be nice. Make sure that you have some sidewalks around if you can. That way you can see where you are walking, avoid the dew soaked grass, and enjoy the weather that is quite pleasant in the WINTER months! Wish you the best.........Florida Native
