This is the greatest thing to happen to Clermont since the construction of the Citrus Tower!

I was definitely excited when the stores started opening up. I can't wait for the movie theatre. Now all we need is a bus route that goes from four corners all the way to 50 so the kids can take it to the mall and the movies without parents always having to drive them. Oh and I can't wait until the finish the sidewalks going all the way down. Way to go CLERMONT I knew when I moved there it would prove to be a great location.

Wow, it really makes me laugh at how little it takes to impress you. Um....so you must get excited that EVERY town has a place to shop and see the movies...sheesh!

You missed the real beauty of Clermont years ago when the lakes were clear and beautiful and the rolling hills were amazing.

But hey, you go enjoy the big box stores and concrete because that is what turns you on.

PLEASE drive your own kids and SUPERVISE THEM. Unsupervised kids/thugs is one of the reasons my family and I almost never went to West Oaks anymore. Please don't ruin Clermont Landing for us, too.

YES I agree with USF alum. No gangsta bus route. Who wants a metal detector at the movies?

WOW! it's sad to think that all you can think of is gang banging kids. I want the children to be able to mingle, enjoy life, excercise, and get a sense of community feel. I've notice in Florida that most subdivisions are like ghosts towns. the kids don't come out, they don't know anything about jumping rope, playing games, skating it's horrible. I don't want my kids to be locked up in the house on a computer or on a game. Oh and by the way I feel they should also bring a park with swings, benches, slides etc. for all to enjoy. Get real it's reality of intermingling it's the chance we take in life. I wouldn't mind taking the bus to the mall and movies theatres as well. You people here are to confined, everything changes, nothing stays the same. There will always be growth and improvements. One think I am seeing here is that there is definitely no vision..There are still some crying about the SunRail.....

West Oaks already had a shot to the chest with the new Winter Garden Village shopping Center.

Get over my fears...You live in OH...I live in Florida...where buses cart the working poor to places. If children are unsupervised and dropped off at the movies...it turns into a slum ghetto gangster hang out. Anyone who lives here knows this. It isn't fear, it is the truth.

What kind of parent would want to send her kids alone on a bus to a shopping center? What ages are we talking about here? That is just crazy.

My husband and I went to a movie at the West Oaks mall about 4 years ago. It was the one and only time we tried that. There were police officers in the theater and they never turned the lights off (not even dimmed). It was a terrible experience. If you want to go to the movies to chat and move about the theater, you can do that outside in the mall!

Anyone want to place bets on how long until West Oaks closes? There is no way that place can be making a profit, esp in this economy.

I hope these new stores can make it in Clermont. It sure saves a lot of driving on dangerous roads to get the the FL mall or I-drive for the movies.

I remember when I saw Sixth Sense at West Oaks...kids running in and out the theater, screaming and yelling and back out into the hallways yelling. You know they had to be seen and heard by mall personnel, but they did nothing. Totally ruined the movie for us. I think we've been back twice since then, but most of the time wait for the DVDs to come out. These were young teens but if their parents were anywhere around, they sure didn't have any control over them.(But the lights were dimmed!)

I think West Oaks mall is on its deathbed. A lot of the stores moved out into the new Winter Garden Village. Now they won't have the Clermont business so I don't see much hope for it. And what a shame...it's really a rather nice place and more convenient than WG Village, IMO.

WELL SAID. There was beauty and tranquility here before. I recently found out that I live in "Historic downtown" Clermont. I thought I live in Clermont! Now, comparatively, I might just as well live in any other central Florida strip centered h*llhole.

So are you guys saying everywhere that has bus stop eventually is ruined. What about Florida Mall? Even bigger, why not New York City, or any major city for that matter? It's just depends where you are. West Oaks isn't that far from Pine Hills, and lets face it, Pine Hills isn't the nicest place. But Clermont is a nice city with nice people. I'm sure we won't have to worry about "gangs" if we just added a bus system rather than having only 2 major highways. If "bad people" wanted to destroy Clermont, I'm pretty sure not having a bus ride from one side of Clermont to the other is going to stop them.

Yeah well obviously you haven't lived in Clermont very long. That's how the adolescents are treated around here. like thugs. no wonder so many of our kids are on drugs. their parents let them do nothing which creates a state of boredom for the teens here. I hope that kids run around this place like its heaven so all u fuckin old fogies that live here WON'T come out. No one wants u kind of ppl in our communties anyways. thanks for the support winterland, now lets get some more economically based businesses in Clermont geared toward the real money makers of this communtiy (the 20somethings) and stop creating environments meant to keep us out.

I know, it's sad. Clermont is a beautiful place, especially down by the lake but the gov just seems to not want to take advantage of it. I think many people are still stuck in the old small clermont and that's ok, but you can't expect businesses here to flourish when there's no reason to even shop or come here. It would be so nice if they had stores/restaurants in Downtown Clermont that people actually wanted to go to. It could be like a mini Fort Lauderdale.

If clermont would get a lifeguard and open waterfront park. Clermont would get a lot more vistors. Like the old days when it was opened. Only reason they won't open it is cause of people drowning there. for all you people who think clermont is safe and noting is wrong, check again kids in lost lake is doing acid and in minnola too. I know to much info for my own good. More gangs here now too. I miss the old clermont less gangs and drugs.
