Okay people, listen up. I have been a resident of Fairview now for a little over 2 years. Its not a bad town it has a lot of hidden treasures. However when it comes to FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS...not a whole lot to offer there. We have a SONIC, Pizza Hut, and taco Mayo to choose from. These are the ONLY well known food chains within a 35 mile radius. There are a few other local Mom & Pop restaurants such as Mels Diner, Franks country kitchen, Feed lot, and my favorite and highly recommended EL Durango. That's it!! Most of the town restaurants with the exception of El Durango close just after lunch or a little thereafter. So if you want to go out on a dinner date better get ready to drive to Enid or Woodward. I don't understand why no other recognize food chains have planted root in Fairview. There is a HUGE desire from local residents wanting more choices when it comes to fast food. At least 20%-40% of this towns residents are oilfield workers who have to work long shifts and by the time the get off the job and in search of food everything is CLOSED. its not like they can go to the ONLY grocery store, grab some food and take it home to cook. Why? Because they usually reside at one of the local hotels which do not provide kitchenettes. And once again the Apple Basket closes just after sundown. Is it just me or does there seem to be a problem here? If someone, a local person who had some capital were to invest in opening a restaurant that was open later or 24 hours (ex; truck stop that also offers fuel for truckers and travlers) they would more than likely have a HUGE success. This would provide more Food choices for the residents and more jobs for the community. So if anyone out there has connections with a major food chain ( Wendys, berger King , KFC to name a few) or a bank roll to finance a privately owned food establishment, what are you waiting for? Need some help, let me know, I am willing to help. I have the experience just not the capital. I belive this could prove to be a very positive change for this fine city if someone would just be willing to try.
Whats up with the NO WALMART situation unless you like driving to Enid to do all your shopping? But that's another story I will discuss on my next posting. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to read this. Maybe my voice will make a difference and maybe it won't, but at least its something to think about. thank you :)
