I want to build a nice chicken coop in my beautiful garden, and raise chickens (only about 6 or 7). I want to have fresh eggs and the overall enjoyment of raising these beautiful birds. Can anyone tell me if they know how I would go about getting permission?

By the way they would be confined to a lot.

I was looking up if I could own chickens within charleston wv city limits. Still need 2 read but know it will say hell to the no. My beef is how can a city tell a person that they are not allowed to grow and provide food for their family in the state of the economy? Sorry, I don't eat dogs and cats. I wanna raise a few chickens in a chicken coop. Who wanna stop me?!

If you want to raise farm animals then buy a farm. When you live in a city or town there are rules that benifit and protect everyone. How would you like to live beside someone on a 100 degree day and they are raising hogs 10 feet from your beedroom window?

I agree. People fight enough in a municipality over dogs and cats. There would be people shooting roosters at 5 am, cows breaking loose running down the school children, hogs tying up traffic, goats breaking into the bar. Total chaos!

Yes it is legal. We have them twice a month on Sunday. And sometimes we will have them during the week, fried with mashed potatoes, no city ordinances against having them in the city or Town.

hogs and chickens are like comparing apples to oranges. Hog shit stinks, chicken shit doesnt. You are like a boil on someone's ass with all your negative remarks

If I knew what a "benifit" and a "beedroom" is, I would like to make a try at answering your post. It appears that you're asking a question, but what is the question?

Guess, if you are not smart enough to get past a typo then I really do not care to hear your answer.

Well there is or was a town ordinance against having chickens inside the city limits of Clendenin but apparently this ordinance has been changed to allow a single citizen to have them.

Nice grammar, by the way.

Anyway, I live within the town limits and I heard a rooster crowing the other morning, close to my house, so apparently some people do have them. And if they make you get rid of them, who cares? They're chickens.
