I'm with Ms Witt on this one. I'm glad she will protest his "swearing in".
Although by all accounts this was an "accident", I STRONGLY feel that it was his actions AFTER that makes this situation worse!
It is said the "The actions you take in a second , DEFINE you"
I believe that VERY much. This officer make a clear choice, he turned his BACK on this woman , that he very well KNEW he had injured! This is NOT Police Chief material. If he is accepted & sworn in after his CLEAR CHOICE, that also speaks volumes of our leadership here in W/S!! DO NOT ACCEPT THIS WINSTON !!!

He did make a clear choice. His choice was protect himself and his fellow officer from a possible dog attack. In a situation such as that you MUST react instantly. He relied on his training and acted correctly. It is bad that she was struck and I do feel bad for her. However, had she been in compliance with the city leash law this whole thing would not have happened. I think she shares in the responsibilty here. It also amazes me how in these events people always second guess or know better how to handle it....funny I don't see a badge pinned on any of them.
