Oct 25, 2011 Full story: EParis Extra 18

The City Counsel needs to make sure that neither SGR or Mercer Group have current vendor relationships within the City. Reason: assisting the placement of City Manager would creat undue influence on placing business with said vendor. For example; Mercer Group also has an employee benefit consulting department. If Mercer were to place a City Manager, that manager would be influenced and possible obligated to place the city's employee benfit copntract with Mercer. This is a question that needs to be addressed.

Hire locally.

In all of paris, there ain't one out of work accountant that would fit the job? Instead of hiring a two or 5 year contracted out of towner with a golden parachute, hire a 6 month accounting type from this area. After 6 months, if they are doing fine keep them, if not, end the contract and get another local one.

In case you didn't know, they're looking for a city manager, not an accountant.

Mr. Anderson has not control over how the City Council handles the search. They are the ones making decisions about search companies, who and when they interview and ultimately who they hire. So, Mr. Anderson is not doing "his typical control thing".

PARIS, TEXAS SEEKS CITY MANAGER

Must not be from Paris -
Must have no idea of what's going on in Paris -
Must not have any friends in Paris -
Must be able to work in an hostile enviroment -
Must be willing to have to have damn near everything blamed on you -
Must be willing to accept being told your not qualified by the same people that six months earlier said you were.
Must be willing to to defend your title, your office, your honor, and yourself constantly -

If you can agree to the above conditions then you have the job.

(NOTE: It doesn't matter if you agree or not since within a year or so the city council is going pay you a ton of money and then run your ass off).

Shouldn't we first have a study done on the people that are going to do the study before we spend money on a study to see if we need a study?

Or maybe do a study on how much money Paris wastes on a study!

Excellent post. You could change the first line to read "Must Be From Paris" and the rest would still suit the issue.

I enjoy most of cash's comments. He interjects a lot of humor to these threads. He has as much right as you do to post on any thread he wishes. Fortunately, you have no control over others. You are certainly enjoined to keep your comments to yourself. Topix would be a better place if you took your own advice. You know, since you never contribute anything slightly on topic? Or anything that resembles decency? Just sayin...

The reason for the wording is that so far the council seems determined to NOT hire someone local that would have a clue of what needs to be done. Most folks (like in anything else) resent having an outsider come in and tell them how to do things.
