sounds like an OK idea but I have a better one: Pikes Peak-style time trials once a year, see who can get a rally car up the hill the fastest, now THAT would draw some crowds and would be worth televising, a few hay bales here and there and it's ready to go, no big deal to set it up.

Why not have BOTH events? It would be the kind of challenge that would attract world class athletes and showcase the beauty of this area. GREAT IDEA JIM!!!

I wasn't sure about the foot print of vehicle use on the side of the mountain, as my reason for not suggesting it. Foot traffic would leave a much smaller one.

The Lakeport Rotary sponsors and facilitates the "Konocti Challenge" the first Saturday in October every year. This year we had about 500 riders, most from out of the area, come to ride their bikes around the lake. They stayed in motels, ate at restaurants and went home to tell their friends about the beauty of Lake County.

The cars would create noise and dust and possibly have serious accidents and might even be a fire hazard. The runners would present NONE of those problems.

Nothing happens here? No kidding!?

The beauty of the lake is the counties best asset, and the more folks who find it, will want to return when possible. Most will have to live at other places, due to there jobs, but, with the improvement of the roads over the years, the lake is a place for week end visits to enjoy just being at a place that a person can kick back and relax, from the faster pace of life where they live. The cost of gas, also, is a factor for weekend get aways these days.

Are You Serious!!??? The lake??!! Once people see the lake in the summer, they NEVER come back. I've watched people pull up to the boat launch take one look at the lake & drive away. Way too many other beautiful lakes & towns to visit in NorCal. What else does this county have to offer besides our "beautiful" lake? Lakeside "resorts"? Indian casinos? A stroll around WallyWorld? Or take a jog up a volcano?
Until this town gets some growth, it will remain a sh!thole & rot away.

Have to wonder why you live here then. Seems like you would be far happier living at one of those other lakes.
