I love my job at Cen-Clear child services. The problem is that I cannot stand Cen-Clear, there are so many unqualified people running the place. DR. GENE KEPHART continues to get rich, while we TSS's continue to get screwed. Seriously!!!

I know how you feel. I had a passion for my Job in CLFD but I hated my work situation. Clfd can be depressing as their is not alot of alternatives. You can move, but the grass is not always greener, but if you stick with the choice you make,(in moving) eventually you will find something. I miss certain aspects of Clearfield, but the place er, certain powers that be, make it difficult to stay. keep in mind if you relocate, dont be fooled that when visiting in the summer that its always an emerald town. I for one do not miss the winter.(winter in Clfd would be OK if heating costs werent an issue and you could afford 4x4 trucks and toys like atvs, snowmobiles and etc.)

I feel for you.

The neo-cons just love it when people give up hope and you can bash them down calling them stupid so they will never leave. You dont want them to have enough self confidence as if they did you might lose another worker drone to stuff your pocket.

Your complaining about your wages? TSS'S make good money for the area. DR whoever gets paid more because he has the Dr infront of his name. Go back to school to receive the Dr. Or just be happy that in some cases you have parents that just dont want to do there job therfore you get to babysitt and raise there child and install values.

Popeye uses the "be thankful you have a job" mentality.
This is just the kind of crap you would expectfrom an anti union , anti health care person with a stake in keeping the lower class down.
Amazing how Clearfield puts out great football teams year after year, but what do these athletes do after school?
With the exception of 2 or 3 per season, the rest either leave the area due to lack of decent employment because the Walkers, Kepharts, Grahams, etc. would rather you be a peon than a thriving mother or father in a cohesive family.
Look at how many competent and talented people are at Clearfield Hospital on a part time condition with little or no benefits.
This has nothing to do with a Liberal mindset, liberals for the most part tend to think outside the box and will go the extra mile to help their fellow citizen

Thanks for showing us how out of touch you really are. There's a good reason many people from Clearfield drive to Dubois or St. College for medical care.

It's obvious this poster is clueless. The companies he attacks are non-union shops, with employees having an average tenure over 25 years. Maybe they are staying around so long because they are peons! Get a clue, and get off the crackpipe. The growth in this county is in the south, where unions are laughed at. Ever notice people are happier in the south?

Maybe now, this poster can justify how the liberal Bud George goes the extra mile to help his fellow citizens by voting himself a 27% pay raise and voting to toll I-80.

Maybe now, this poster can justify how the liberal Bill Shaw Jr. goes the extra mile to help his fellow citizens by beating up our area's women and children.

Back to the crackpipe, and the welfare checks. Good news for you: the first of the month (welfare pay day) is coming soon.

Is that whyPhilip Morris closed in Salisbury N C?

How about Burlington Industries? Springmaid?, Pillowtex?

How about the soon to be flushed Toyota plants?

Care to guess what the average wage in the south is?

Show me how many Republicans voted against that pay raise.
How do you propose to maintain I80? I'm all for raising the gas tax a dime and skip the tolling.

By the way, your typical welfare crack doesn't fly jerk .

I have worked without a gap in employment for 41 years.

Wow Bud, I didn't know you have been sucking on the state's tit for 41 years. Congrats.

How is Jordan Lane doing? Is she still openly hating America? Is Candy still posing naked for the kids? Fill me in Bud.

As far as tolling, the gas tax makes sense, as long as you don't pass it along to your rich friends in Philly and Pittsburgh like you propose with the I-80 tolling. I'm glad to see you've changed your mind on the tolling.

What does Candace Lane or Jordan Lane have to do with this thread?

Why don't you ask either of them the same thing you are asking on here?

I didn't think so.

But I'm sure you know what they are up to, Bud, so fill us in.

Dear Yearight, please get a clue.
NONE of the money which would be generated from tolling I-80 would be used to maintain I-80. The vast majority of the money would go to fund SEPTA, also known as the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. SEPTA provides public transportation (buses) in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. It would also be used to support the crooks on the Turnpike Commission.
Since I know you're not going to believe a word I say and would rather call me a liar than accept the facts, I am posting an article which was in the Courier-Express earlier this year.(Yes, I actually read the Courier because it's better than wasting my time with the Progress)

Courier Article dated January 24th Part 1 (too long to post all at once)
DuBOIS — Clearfield and Clarion counties continue to urge all Pennsylvania residents to continue pressuring legislators to repeal Act 44 and do away with the proposed tolling of Interstate 80.

At a symposium held Friday at the DuBois Country Club, Nancy Micks, CEO and president of the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce, and Tracy Becker, executive director of the Clarion Area Chamber of Business and Industry, brought government officials, area business owners and concerned citizens together to discuss what tolling I-80 will mean for the area.

First to speak was John Stroup of the Clarion Chamber who presented an overview of events leading up to Act 44.

Stroup said Act 44, the legislation which authorized the conversion of I-80 to a toll road, was approved by a vote of 124-79 in the state House of Representatives in 2007. He said the act was created "in haste and secrecy" with only one month passing from the time the legislation was introduced until it was signed into law. There were no public hearings or any other opportunity for public input held.

Before the approval of Act 44, Gov. Ed Rendell campaigned for the privatization of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, saying the Turnpike Commission had a reputation for nepotism in hiring. Act 44 puts the Turnpike Commission in charge of operating I-80 as a toll road.

Stroup said many supporters of Act 44 claim motorists who use I-80 do not "pay their fair share," when in fact the motorists, particularly truck drivers, already pay a significant amount to drive on all highways across the country. According to a report in 2006, a single, local independent trucking company paid $218,000 in fuel tax,$77,500 for license plates, and $27,500 for combined use taxes plus additional taxes on tires for 50 trucks in the fleet.

Stroup said tolling I-80 would add $7,000 per week or $364,000 per year to trucking expenses.

He said a study of I-80 conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in 2005 recommended against tolling because it will take 20 years before toll revenues would begin to exceed the debt service requirement accumulated by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. The once deteriorated condition of I-80 has been corrected by PennDOT, the annual cost of maintaining I-80 in acceptable condition is no longer an abnormal drain on PennDOT's budget, Stroup said. The study also said out-of-state trucks pay for their use of I-80 through their participation in inter-state compacts for registration and fuel use.
