I was under the impression that they quit in protest about how the situation was handled, (ie some students were punished more severely than others) but maybe I misunderstood what I read.

Where did ya read things at? According to the Progress (haha) just the one guy showed up at the school board meeting, and he said he could not comment! I think its gonna get real juicy before it all over.

This problem won't be resolved until the head at the top of the football program rolls right out the door. The community needs to DEMAND that he be fired and then the district needs to take back the keys and control of that field house. Take it away from being just for the football players. Hell, send a real message to the jockacracy at the high school and turn the building into a storage shed for the riding mowers - that will send a real message to the taxpayers that fun and games and Clearfield High School is O V E R!

I was reading what was on Gant Daily and a similar story in The Courier. Rumors, no one really knows what happened that night, how many kids were involved, who was punished for what and why some kids were punished more severely than others. The school board and the superintendent won't say anything about it, although there are a lot of people who have been putting the bits and pieces together. Both Gant and the Courier wrote that the one athletic director said he would "love to comment but couldn't." So maybe I'm reading too much into this but that gives me the impression that the three of them are not happy with the way things were handled but are not permitted to say so.

The field house purpose was intended for the football program and funded by supporters of the program. Yes, some tax dollars were used to construct and maintain the facility but if you have ever left the confines of Clearfield, you would see that other districts worship (as they should) their football program. Our football and other program facilities are substandard compared to other districts in our area. This district is being mismanaged big time. The leadership is obviously doing a poor job. If you think you can do better, step up. Show some credentials and be an active part of changing things for the better. Otherwise, quit your damn whining!!

Their grades have to be decent to play. They form very good relationships and learn to respect other students from CHS and other school districts. They go through a grueling season and off season (football workouts are pretty much 12 months a year) and spend a lot of time together. They fund much of the program themselves with the fundraisers and concession stand and such. And they represent the school well. If you have ever been to a game, you would be proud of the program. They should be worshipped. And don’t call me an asshole unless you are going to be a man and say it to my face.

They don't work as a team, there is to much competition. I know of players who failed classes and were still allowed to play. Last year there was one player who did not graduate, he failed to many classes. They do not form good relationships! Get real! I've been to plenty games and I am not proud of the Clearfield football program. Why should we worship football players?....lol....you really are more of an ashole then I thought!.......worship football players????? Most of the football players are some of the most arrogant cocky boys I've seen, just like the coach! Put your real name on here and I will gladly say it to your face.
