The governor of New York and mayor of New York City have petitioned the USDA to allow the state to ban the purchase of soda and sugary drinks with food stamps (NY term our ACCESS card).
How about a little mandatory drug testing to recieve the benefits in the first place?

"Mom, what's wrong?"

"Son, I got busted for Pepsi and Barq's Red Creme Soda in my piss test."

"MOM!!"

"I know, son, I'm so very sorry but I'm addicted."

"Mom, we have to get you help!"

"Don't worry, honey, I'll turn tricks for colas from now on."

I'm not on food stamps. But I do know many,
many people on them. They don't work, don't pay for housing, don't pay for child care. Living off the state, yet every dime most of these people have, go straight to drugs. It pisses me off, I kill myself working to keep my family afloat, yet these lpv and edge wood creeps live better than I do. Is this fair? I know I won't get fair responses on this site, because slot of you are the ones I'm talking about. But let me ask you, did the state pay for computer too? Heard rumors too that people with no job live at lpv for free? Any responses?

You'll get quite a bit of agreement from me so here is one fair response.

As for the government controlling what is allowed to be purchased...my first response was "Your D*** right!". Then I though about it and my second response is, "Wait a minute...more big brother. I think NOT!".
If we didn't have this tax payer funded mess in the first place we wouldn't be discussing this.
And I don't want to hear "boo-hoo, I work and I still need help", "I'm a single mom and I can't make it without welfare". Give me a break. Get a second job, cut your spending, do something to right your situation.
You certainly have internet service if you're posting here. There is one place you can cut spending. It's not a neccessity.
I'm raising my family on one income. We have our own home, 2 cars, food on the table, and the bills are paid. It can be done without welfare. If you're low-income, raise yourself up. Don't expect someone else to do it for you. Most people have forgotten how to penny pinch and set priorities straight.
There are hundreds of thousands of 'rags to riches' stories in this country. If they can bring themselves riches you can certainly bring yourself out of poverty.
People who believe they need welfare are just brain-washed by the socialist progressives of America. Reprogram your thinking. Don't allow them to make you think you need the government to take care of you. I only need me to take responsibility for myself and my family.
Charity is given by the free-will of another, not taken by force to be given away.

Yes !!!! Please restrict Access card use ! Nothing is more upsetting than seeing huge Sheetz orders of made to order subs, fries, huge pink foam ice cream drinks being paid for with an Access card. One order at Sheetz .... They could have purchase groceries for a week !! People do get down and out, and need help to get back on their feet ..... Not a lifestyle.

This is stupid. Okay, first of all, we all know that you feel bad about this. But in fact, people that use foodstamps actually buy energy drinks and all that other shit with their card. This isn't right in the first place to be handing money to people to buy food with, let alone soda, sunflower seeds, bags of sugar, cooking oil(they could use it in their cars for better gas mileage instead of cooking with it) among others.

Another thing that foodstamp sluts need to realize is that they aren't the shit. They live in dumpy houses, act like they are better than you because you are paying for their asses to live, and have way too much pride for their level in society. I want to knock them out sometimes.

I think it also allows for the people to be motivated to get off this card, because they rely on it way too damn much! If they were threatened like this, then they wouldn't be able to buy cigarettes and soda, it would only have to be one of the two.

Food stamps should be strictly limited to the basic food pyramid. No soda, candy, cookies, red bull, ice cream, premade food and junk. If a person is in such desperate need for food to apply for food stamps then they need actual food not junk from sheetz and all the local grocery stores. Why can't the gov't limit what is covered on the card? I think it's more important for a family to get proper nutrition from home cooked meals and not mto's and Smoothies from sheetz!

Use the guidlines for wick, for the access purchases. You can only purchase certain brands and types of food. I think if you are on welfare it should be mandatory to diet.

Yes, in fact the state actually did pay for my computer. The first one got fried after just one week. I think my son was looking at pornos on-line and might have caught a virus. But it wasn't long til I got another one. I don't know what I would do without it.

Your taxes hard at work folks. Don't you sleep better at night knowing that you are paying for Anita Bath's computer so that she can dazzle you with her brilliance on here so often?

The money that would have been spent on food stamps could go towards other improvements for the state, such as public day care quality. http://www.tenderyearschildcare.com

I can think of more important things for money saved than spending it on day care. What ever happened when Gram or sis would help while you went to work?
