The correct number of Dogs that Happy Endings left unsupported at Camp Diggy Bones was closer to 300. Some dogs have found homes due to the efforts of Camp Diggy Bones. The amount of money stated is very misleading. One needs to factor the cost a boarding facility incurs such as staff, food, water, electric since kennels have air conditioning in the summer and Heat in the winter. This is 7 days a week. The dog's uncertain future is because of Happy Endings. How can Happy Endings justify making a donation to another rescue on 12/31/13 and yet fail to support the dogs they have housed at Camp Diggy Bones. They claim to have lost funding but were listed in the top 3 tiers of donors. When was the last time the head of Happy Endings went to Camp Diggy Bones? When was the last formal dog adoption day held by Happy Endings in the Lavon area. I have served on the Board of Directors for a dog rescue group. A rescue group has the responsibility to (1) Pull only the amount of dogs they can support (2) Hold formal adoption days close to where they board dogs.(3) Have fund raisers.
I want to point out it is the job of the rescue group to place their dogs, it is not the job of the boarding facility. My understanding is that Camp Diggy Bones provided Happy Endings a substantial discount. The owner has reached into his own savings to support these dogs. If a rescue group pulls more dogs than they can handle, they are hurting the dogs, not helping them. They are hoarding, not rescuing. In this case I ask the question - How does Happy Endings consider themselves a rescue? I wish others would ask this same question.
