I was up early this morning cleaning up trash off the road. Seems that sometime in the middle of the night a stray dog emptied the bin and strung trash, my trash. Yes, I cleaned it up. This is not the first time this has happened. Probably not even the same dog(I'm assuming).

A very good friend of mine told me I needed to build a cage to put the bins in, to stow my trash until pickup.

Why should I have to build a cage? Its not MY dog doing this. Why should I have to take responsibility for someone else's animal.

So I ask you, dog owners who let their animals run free. Take care of your dogs. Keep them in the house, build a fence, or (if you have to, however inhumane it is) put them on a chain. Just do something. Please!!

If you live in town and see the dog, please call city hall and ask the animal control officer to come out. He is working very hard to try to get the animal situation under control. It is a difficult battle.

As frustrating as it is, no one should harm an animal like this. They may be starving and looking for food. If you haven't noticed, a lot of the owners don't take care of their dogs and cats around here. It is something new for the kids to play with and once they get bored who cares about the animal. Why hurt the dog when it is the owners fault. I agree with Rhonda about calling the pound. At least when they put them down it is quick and they don't have to suffer cuts all in their mouths and insides. Someone needs to put a fish hook down your throat.

We cut a 3ft X 3ft piece of welded wire and layed it on top of our trash barrels (kind of like a lid). It won't take care of the dogs running the streets chasing you as you walk by, but they can't scatter your trash. The cats were our main problem though.

An easy solution to stray dogs or cats in your garbage is to pour jalapeno juice from your nacho jalapenos or sprinkle hot sauce over your bags. Doesn't hurt the animals but deters them, and it gives you something to do with the left over jalapeno juice. You can get hot sauce real cheap at the dollar store and it doesn't take much. There is no reason to be inhumane.

Thank God. I was starting to think, there weren't many people left with brains and a heart.

While I dislike stray dogs I also realize that dogs do occasionally escape from the yard or break away from the tie line. Run a ways should be returned to the owner. Fines after the first return for repeat returns. Persistent stray dogs should be dealt with quickly for the safety of children and other reasons. Putting poison in trash to me is to indiscriminate as it may hurt the neighbors dog.

I agree

I steped out of the House 2 nights a go to shoot a stray dog trying to get into my chicken pin, and right thier was the biggest ol' fat calico cat i had ever seen, it was pretty, only problem with that thou is i hate cats more then I do stray dogs.so i shoot the cat and the dog run up to his owners place, well I followed on up thier and seen they werent Home so i shot the dog right thier on thier frount porch, threw it in the back of my truck and hauled it off. A chicken eating dog aint no good for nothing but killing. I'll get more sleep at night now, amen.

OMG...you have to be kidding. What kind of an evil inhumane jerk are you. If you shot the gun in town they should fine you for that, also for inhumane treatment of animals, and illegal dumping. I hope you are found, fined and prosecuted.

I agree with you, just walk up to the dog and shoot em in the back of the head, he will never feel nothing and it's provin to be more humane then putting them in the gas chamber's, like 99% of city municapalities do. choking on carbon munoxicide has never been to favorable to me.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Capricorn

Someone is in a finger-wagging mood and unfortunately they seem to be concentrating on you! Maybe they think you've fallen from grace for some reason, or perhaps you're simply the only person who happens to be around when they feel like letting off steam. Do your best not to fall into an equally critical and disgruntled mood, because it will soon make you feel wretched.
