So...what do you rekon will be done in Clayton? Does anyone who has kids in Clayton school system have the stones to stand up and demand the school board explain hiring practices, and what level of Background chex are done? WIll anyone demand an investigation into these issues? You can't even get the local newspaper to cover this kind of news. Where are the safety nets for the children?

The school has know for months that this teacher was having improper contact with kids, as far the hiring practices of the school, there was not background or reference done on these people, all that was needed was for Erwin to say Hire her, so they did, they did not know that she had taught before, had they did there job this may have not have happned, had the other school done there job she would not have been here teaching, this is what happens when you have a school board who does not think for there self, they are not there for anyone but the school, if you cannot come sober and ready to do a job for the school and the children then get off, don't rubber stamp any teacher just because someone says hire them, do your best to make sure of what you see on paper is true, check , check and double check, they have got off Lucky this time but what about the next time, most schools that have had this happen to them have been sued, so I agree with you, they the school board , the administration and the teacher need to do there job with both eyes open and listen to what is being said around them

Mr. Erwin and the Clayton School Board did their job, Cleveland High School however did not. The issue was never persued in Cleveland so Mr. Erwin and the Clayton School Board had no way of know the issue they had with her. People really need to stop making rude comments about Mr. Erwin and the Clayton School Board. They are trying to make this a better place for us and our children, which is more than can be said for most around here.

It is sad to say but the Clayton School board did not check this teacher out, had they done so they would have know that there was a problem, but ONLY if Cleveland school was honest with them, and it this case I don't think they would have, they covered the problem up, Yes there is a problem with Clayton school and Yes there are SOME members on the board who are trying to fix it, but not all, Clayton could and should have one of the best school around , that is what they must work for , do not hire just for the sake of finding a teacher, do the home work and do background check, it does not take long and it may or may not catch problems but it cannot hurt

I know that Mr. Erwin and the school board did a background check on Ms. Ford. It is required before a teacher can be hired that they are fingerprinted and pass a background check. The problem is that Ms. Ford did not have former arrest or convictions that would show up in a background check. She actually had worked part time at Cleveland, so if anything had happened there and it wasn't reported, there would be nothing about it in a background check. It would be nice if people who don't really know what is going on here would stay out of it and leave their comments to themselves. Clayton school (Mr. Erwin and the board) did exactly what is required by law when the rumors of Ms. Ford's actions surfaced. They asked her to resign and turned it over to the local authorities and OSBI. She had nothing in her past records to indicate that she was this type of person when she was hired at Clayton School. We finally have leadership at our school now who will stand up to this type of thing and do what's right. Please let them do their job and keep your ugly comments to yourself.
