What does everyone think about the speed of Internet service being offered by Oklahoma Western Telephone Co. What is the best alternative if you want to watch movies or videos.

Oklahoma Western Telephone is the worst ISP I have ever has the displeasure of being subscribed too. OWT has absolutely horrible customer-service. I had Oklahoma Western Telephone as my ISP, and the service was absolutely terrible. I was paying $80.00 for very slow internet speeds (25 k/bs - 50 k/bs). I was charged for service-men to examine the lines, to which, they discovered nothing wrong. I called many, many times, asking for the service-men, and they didn't arrive for THREE MONTHS. Absolutely horrible. They issue you a very cheap, non-durable router. OWT is known for privacy-violations, such as listening on phone-calls, throttling download speeds, and ridiculous 'additional' service fee's. Avoid this company like the plague.
Go with AT&T if its available. AT&T has never screwed me over.

Pine cellular has a bandwidth cap. I would hit it in a few days of watching Netflix. Oklahoma western is far from perfect but they are my only option. I'm getting around 2.6 mbs down / 400 kbs up.

The only reason ur getting that download speed is because you more than likely know someone that works there and they turned it up for you. Cause for everyone else the Internet blows with there .7 down and .3 up. They have had money and grants to upgrade everything but they waste it on crap like rv's and gambling in the Choctaw casinos and givin money to her kids while the rest of the people suffer cause of her shitty service. I hope pine puts her out of business so someone else can come and take over like Pine, and actually do something around here although I fell sorry for who does cause they got a lot to upgrade to get everything up to standards.

try to explain... with pine cellular you are using wireless backhaul data t1's sometimes thru a licensed frequency... but they have a bandwidth cap so if you are wanting to watch netflix or other streaming media you will probablly exceed this within a couple of days... owtc offers 300k - 800k with no bandwidth cap, but there copper infrastructure is outdated they were planning on a government grant in 2012 to upgrade to a fiber to home system which would have made speeds 1mbps - 10mbps... but cheezewiz they did not recieve this grant for 12 mil/ pine cellular recieved 70 mil instead maybe because of there history... all of this information is public on the internet http://www.ntia.doc.gov/category/grants ... but long story short pine should have not capped there bandwidth for the amount of money they were granted, nor should owtc depend on a grant to upgrade there business they should take a loan and repay it... from history of dealing with both companies depending on where you live i would go with owtc if you are in town or near main fiber posts, almoust every other town.. if you live in a rural area go with pine, and download a bandwidth limiting software that way you dont burn all your bandwidth up in a couple days... and hopefully one day in the future the right people will create a uncapped 20mpbs system for cheap

No. I pay for a 3mbps line and I get 2mbps+ most of the time. I also live less than 1/4th mile from the telephone office, so there's very little signal degredation. I just checked my speed and I'm getting 2.5 down and .5 up.

Damn,I just read your post. Where did you get the info that OWTC only offers 800k? They offer up to a 3mbps service and are supposed to be offering 5mbps soon.

Well congrats, cause if you live to far out or are on terrible quality lines you can't get that speed. They are upgrading only because of the pressure from Pine.

I'm a few months behind on OWTC's offerings cause I don't go in there anymore to ask if they are ever gonna get an Extension Dslam in nashoba, another limited and old lined area.
