You guys couldn't afford the taxes it would take to continue your government services like road maintenance, safe water delivery, and other essential services that you have come to depend on.
The difference in the signs you speak of do in fact represent differences. In fact, the People First signs were professionally done, locally, contributing more dollars to the Cape economy. The people responsible for those signs, just happen to be year round residents. Those residents also happen to be some of the same group of people responsible for helping to bring Grant money into this community in order that buildings can be saved, made safe and increase economic opportunities. They have helped to make it possible for the Roxy to be rehabed and continue to be a part of this community.
These people have also contibuted generously to every fund raiser, benefit for those in need and give thousands of hours of volunteer time to Cape Vincent. They have donated time, talent, and money, and have tremendous pride in thier community. They have indeed put people first, the people of Cape Vincent. They have funded scholarships for your children, volunteered to clean the highways surrounding our town and have put up with tremendous bullying threats, and name calling from the local crowd.
So tell me, what have you contributed to Cape Vincent lately? What have you done to insure there are job opportunities for your neighbors, how often have you picked up trash off the village roads, sidewalks and Village Green. How often have you planted a flower, bush or tree in a public place? How often have you done something for someone other than yourself? How much do you pay in taxes? But more important, when was the last time you thanked anyone not born here for helping out and caring about those that were?
PEOPLE FIRST, also includes you!
