I'm wondering why a lot of these parents don't have some kind of job, even if it's part time. If they are mentally ok, and physically ok, why not get a few hours at the Walmart, or Target, etc? Supplement your income? Just because you're 82 doesn't mean you cannot work. I think to put that kind of burden on your family is selfish. Especially in this current climate how can a parent expect their kids to take care of them? I'll be lucky to have enough money for myself let alone to take care of my parents. I think there if too much expectation on retirement and people see it as a right rather than a priviledge. I will certainly be working into my old age and have come to accept that fact.
