I think Pooh and Casper are English(ebonic)teachers at the local highschool. Look at the crime stastics. That says it all. Never admit to a mistake, own up to a crime, and blame everyone else. 200 years is way too long. I appreciate the hard working people that do live there but live in fear of mental idiots.

I stumbled on this article and found the articles interesting and not surprising. Basically the children need a COMMUNITY CENTER, maybe Church Activities, the YMCA, PAL, someone to look up to. I have had the opportunity to correct a few who was using bad language; the response I got was "sorry", "excuse me".

When I lived there, it was a safe, close-knit community. I remember trick or treating, playing on Bedford Drive, having a good time.
Guess I made it out before the crap hit the fan. Too bad, it was a nice place then.
I grew up in Edgemoor Gardens in the 60's too...it was home & didn't have the problems it appears to have now...I lived on South Cannon Dr. hung out with Sis, Pat H. & a bunch of other good kids...

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO EDGEMOOR GARDENS??? What makes a place a home (community) is the people...When I grew up in Edgemoor in the 60's...on Sou. Cannon Dr. it was a good clean decent family neighborhood...people got along...watched out for one another...it was safe to walk around the neighborhood day or night...It was clean (litter free) had parks & playgrounds for the kids to play in...the houses were taken care of..owners lived in them (few renters) so they showed pride in their home...Those memories shall always be with me.

I have lived near the Gardens since 1986 and it has gotten progressively worse. We need to stop with the name calling and hold parents and kids accountable. If the parents can't control their kids then the kids need to go to Ferris so the rest of our kids can be safe. We are close to a major interstate and the drug dealers and car theives look at this area as prime meat. Poverty is everywhere and it's not an excuse to do wrong or be accused of being less than human. On the other side of that, just because your house appears nicer or is not in the Gardens does not mean you are a snob or a target for burglary or muggings. We are all trying to make ends meet and we need to start remembering that we all deserve respect. I AM SICK OF THE RACE FACTOR. The color of your skin is no excuse for bad behaviour, bad english, or disrespect any more than it is an excuse for supremecy. Read the Declaration of Independence.

Bring In the Troops and wipe this place off the map! I live two neighborhoods away and keep six loaded guns in home. God help the crook that trys to force their way into my home!

I grew up in Edgemoor, lived on N. Pennywell drive. Lived there from about 72 till I went in the service in 81. Rode through there a few times throughout the years and seen it steadly go down hill. Houses boarded up and condemmed. People need take things into their own hands and step upto fix it. But as with the new triend of the government, everybody wants the government to take care of them. My brother, sister, and myself all turmed out pretty good, but we did it on our own, no handouts. So, if you don't like it, FIX IT YOURSELF, and stop asking for handouts. nuff said

Haiku~ Sonia Sanchez, Philadelphia's poet laureate

1
Come windless invader
I am a carnival of
Stars a poem of blood.

2
I have caught fire from
Your mouth now you want me to
Swallow the ocean.

3
When we say good-bye
I want yo tongue inside my
Mouth dancing hello.

4
Mixed with day and sun
I crouched in the earth carry
You like a dark river.

5
You too slippery
For me. Can't hold you long or
Hard. Not enough nites.

6
Am I yo philly
Outpost? Man when you sail in
To my house, you docked.

7
This is not a fire
Sale but I am in heat
Each time I see ya.

8
I am who I am.
Nothing hidden just black silk
Above two knees.

9
I am you loving
My own shadow watching
This noontime butterfly.

10
Is there a fo rent
Sign on my butt? You got no
Territorial rights here.

11
My face is a scarred
Reminder of your easy
Comings and goings.

12
Derelict with eyes
I settle in a quiet
Carnival of waves.

13
I want to make you
Roar with laughter as I ride
You into morning.

14
I have carved you face
On my tongue and I speak you
In my off-key voice.

15
the I in you the
you in me colliding in
one drop of semen

16
legs wrapped around you
camera. action. Tightshot.
This is not a rerun.

17
Sonku

What I want
From you can
You give me? What
I give to
You do you
Want?
Hey? Hey?

18
love between us is
speech and breath. Loving you is
a long river running.

The prevailing reality of living in the small town market economy is where two parents have to spend more time at work for depressed , unfair wages then they can spend at home on homemaking activities. Where are the neighbors of Edgemoor or Claymont or the many hundreds of small towns in America? We once used to live in neighborhoods where doors were left unlocked, neighbors knew each other by first names and freely shared neighborhood responsibilities and offered help .Children played outside until the twilight darkened the sky and the stars shone bright on the streets we walked home on. Fathers came home from 9-5 jobs to home cooked meals with their families. The local banker was also a friend and did not take exorbitant salary and packaged early retirement bundles for himself, but offered home and car loans at affordable rates based on the banks on deposits and savings reserves. Neighbors spent some of their spare time maintaining the local baseball diamonds, playgrounds, and volunteering on fund drives to get more books for the public library. Some leisure time was spent on hobbies in one's garage or bird watching in a wild field rather than at the Mall ,Casino , or grunge bar. Community theater or bowling was the norm on a Saturday night instead of flash mobs outside Brandywine Town Center 16 Regal Cinemas at 2 AM.

Johnson’s body was discovered about 6:30 a.m. in the first block of North Cannon Drive in the Edgemoor Gardens community.

And the best part is nobody knows nothing!

Move these low life people out of here and demolish this place. I can't for the life of me believe what a chit hole this place has turned into.

POLICE TAKE ACTION or do something!

@Police Take Action, "Move these low life people out of here and demolish this place. I can't for the life of me believe what a chit hole this place has turned into." I can't believe that all of us were suckered in by the sham promises of Nixon's divide &conquer the silent majority strategy and Reaganomics ---the real causes for our declining economy, poorly funded schools, growing environmental problems and higher unemployment and decaying traditional neighborhoods while big corporations and banks reap record profits on consumer credit card and mortgage debt.

Perhaps it is time for a different more "effective" means of returning sanity?
Anyone have any ideas?
This place is a shit hole. I think I need to form my crew like a task force no one have seen before come in and take the trash out.
Been here a while have had no probs really and hope it stays that way till I can move.
