Marshall Bailey was a good friend, I miss him alot. While I did not know Eric Workman, Connie his Mom is a bud of mine.

How can we befriend these two hero(s) kid(s), the way these two hero(s) befriended us? That is the question that must guide Clay County from this day forward.

Connie Workman bears much. Her other son, Kevin; Kevin last year was maimed for life
by a psychopath. Kevin lost an eye in the attack and he has to ballistic goggles for life.

The trooper(s) children deserve their father(s) sidearms. It(s) called giving a fallen knight's family his or her sword.

I support the bullet proof glass petition. I also believe believe kevlar helmets and Kevlar assault vests. should be issued to troopers, too. I believe also they should have their AR-15 rifle loaded in the space between the front cruiser seats.

Marshall and Eric are now in God's detachment. Let us honor their paths by protecting an helping their families.

Eric Michael Workman, 26, of Ivydale, entered into rest August 31, 2012, in Charleston, WV, of injuries suffered in an incident in Wallback, WV, on August 28th. Born on March 29, 1986, in Charleston, he was the son of George and Connie Workman of Ivydale. He was a graduate of Clay County High School and West Virginia State University. During his time at West Virginia State, he was a member of the WV State Baseball Team, Player of the Year for 2009, Hitter of the Year, and 2nd Team All American. Eric was a WV State Trooper, a member of the WV State Police Honor Guard, WV Troopers Association, Elk River Musky Club and Big Knob Hunt Club. Eric was an organ donor, and although his life was cut short here on this earth, because of his ultimate sacrifice many will live richer and fuller lives. In addition to his parents, Eric is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Josh King of Wallback; nephew, Aiden King; maternal grandmother, Hallie (Corrine) Woods of Ivydale; aunts, Susie (John) Sears of Ivydale and Tammy (Kenny) Wilmoth of Pension, TN; uncle, Bobby Woods of Ivydale. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4, from 1 to 9 pm at Clay County High School. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Charleston Civic Center, Charleston. Burial will follow in the Workman family Cemetery, Ivydale. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Association. On-line memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.carlwilsonfuneralhome.com .
Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, is honored to be serving the Workman family.

only a sister is listed in his obituary.

The first comment has very good thoughts. It's a shame that a person can't say something good about state troopers who died while protecting us West Virginian. Yes, they were taking a threat to innocent motorists off of the highway. In my opinion, that is protecting us. For someone to respond to this comment in such a negative way is as cowardly as Luke Baber, but that person probably doesn't even know who Luke Baber is. That comment had nothing at all to do with 'Megatron''s comment. I think giving their sidearms to their children or parents is a wonderful gesture of appreciation of the sacrifice these troopers made. Definitely, bulletproof glass is a good idea.

You're thinking of Connie Carte's son, Kevin. Eric was the only son of George and Connie. Might want to check your facts and sources this is a good example of how rumors get started. I know you meant well, but just make sure you know what you're saying is true.

Why would anyone get on this site and ask about Cpl Bailey's wife in the manner being asked? So disrespectful.

Our focus must remain on the children whose fathers were murdered. I care not for other trivia, the murdered trooper(s) kids must come first and foremost.

Has a Christmas club been set up for these kids? I know summer has been eternally trashed for them, but at least we can work to help them smile.

Something for the kids is a great idea. Maybe start them all a college fund where the community can make donations

I think some are missing the point here. There is a certain honor that goes to police officers and military who die in the line of fire. They choose their profession and put their life on the line to protect us. In exchange for this, if they die while protecting us, we owe, to their children, a certain obligation to help educate them in the absence of their father.

Does anyone know who is caring for Trooper Workman's dog? I know he had no children and I believe he hunted and fished with his dog. I know how attached dogs become to their masters.

I know not of these other things. But this I do know. We must befriend the kids of the two murdered state troopers, the way there Dads befriended this county.

An evil coward chose to hurt kids by murdering their dads. Let us now do our duty by helping and protecting the same kids.

Please don't use this disaster to preach gun control or like political agenda. That is a hideous insult to the murdered trooper(s) kids.

Thanks for the info on Trooper Workman's dog. Sometimes dogs can grieve themselves to death. Hopefully, the dog will adjust. The family probably feels a connection to the dog because, from the pictures I have seen, Eric loved his dog.

I am not saying a college fund should or should not be started for either kids, what I am trying to say is here is two children whos father has passed away and right over here is two more children whos father has passed away, lets just pretend you know neither father or neither story, is one set of children any less deserving than the other? It is a terrible situation when anyone loses his or her life, but know matter what happens children cannot be held responsible for an adults actions.

First off whoever is writing this about chris if you know so much bout his death then would be nice to go to his family and tell them the truth except acting like he was another drug head well no matter wat he was half of the usa is strung out and whoever is writing this is prob strung out but that beside point.chris kids have very great mothers that take care of them they work and support there kids so why did this all get brought up about chris anyways it was suppose be a topix about state troopers not chris. leave the dead alone and let the rest in peace. honestly id love to see this site closed down ppl come on here to do nothing but bash others behind a computer screen cause 99% of yall would not say nothing like u put on here to sumone face. why dont you let the dead be dead they cant stand up and defend there self..HONESTLY if you are adult please act like one and stop talkin your crap !!!i mean not tryin to be mean but it gets old for ppl to bash on here grow up just tad bit
