So Jerry knows he isn't running again and it doesn't matter what he votes for or against , he plans to vote for what suits him , not the county . I thought his title was County Commissioner not Jerry Commissioner . Just what do the other two have in mind ? Are they thinking about the county as a whole or are they just thinking about how padded can I get my pockets before I leave office ???
Politics as usual !!!

A person can't vote for something when their jaw is wired up and both hands have been hammered. God forbid that would ever happen to anyone around here.

Does the county commission not understand , you accomplish more when you work together ? They are drawing a line in the county and they are going to start something they don't want to have to clean up . The county already has the reputation that we are nothing but lazy bums waiting for a handout , thieves , murders , drug heads and yahoos .I hate to tell anyone where I'm from . It use to be a place to be proud of , not anymore . No jobs , no self respect no glimmer of hope for the young of having a future , and the county commission doesn't seem to think its their job to see that the county even has a future unless it involves them , their family or their pocketbook .

Seems to me like your not to thrilled about the way the commission is being ran. And that none of the three are working to improve clay as a whole county. However there was a time when you did have someone in that position fighting to better our county and hold people accountable for their actions. But the ignorant people that seemed to think that by her stepping on a few toes and being elected to office to take care of business and not just sit around and drink coffee and make friends. It was better to boot her out the door and elect someone who has no college education, no common sense, and no business smarts about her. I would love to see Ms. Kings name back on the ballot. I supported her in every election she has ran in and will continue if she would happen to ever run again. She had done a lot for our county in those 6 years and would have continued to do more.

It is not the County Commissioners' fault that the people in Clay County are lazy bums waiting for a handout, thieves, murderers, drug heads and yahoos. I was born and raised in Clay County and still live there and have never been employed by any business within Clay County. I am a female and have worked since I was 19 years old. I knew there was no opportunity for jobs or careers in Clay County, so I took the initiative to go outside the County for employment. I did not expect the County Commission to provide me with a job and career opportunities. Come on people, take responsibility for your own actions or inactions as the case may be.

I'm not asking the county commissioners to bring jobs to the county , I want then to put the county as a whole first not their families and their bank acct . Quit the waste , quit the peeing contest and put pride back in the county .

Let's see now, the only reason Mike ran was to get free insurance, and that's probably why Link will quit after this term. Both of them old enough to get medicare, so nice to turn 65??. I guess the 25 thous. plus a year helps out to. Now I guess Arlene ran so she could stay home and take care of her mom, still get payed plus free insurance.
This free insurance thing seems to be a big factor in wanting to be a Clay Co. Commissioner. That's unless you're in there to get water run up you're road, all food for thought.

Sounds to me like you are too good for Clay County. If you lump everyone into one catagory, and you really feel this way about us, MOVE OUT OF CLAY COUNTY! I work, so don't assume I am one of those "lazy bums waiting for a handout, thieves, murderers, drug heads and yahoos." You just talked about ME and YOURSELF! And I don't appreciate it... The rest of what you said in your snobby reply has absolutely nothing to do with the Flood Plain Ordinance! YOU are obviously uneducated about the issue at hand.

Just hope you don't have your own bridge where you have to cross a creek to get to your house, because, if you do, you can't replace it without a permit and an ENGINEER!

That's right... the CCC you are supporting is devaluing people's property by setting a total loss at 51% of the value (possibly yours!) and causing people (property owners! NOT the people you assume EVERYONE but you are... you know "people in Clay County are lazy bums waiting for a handout, thieves, murderers, drug heads and yahoos" ) to put out excessive money just to repair and maintain their own homes, just to pull political favors for a few deep pockets.

Clay County.... Love it, or LEAVE IT! Please!(but get your mouth off me and the people I love)

.

I moved into this county from a county that has had an ordnance like the proposed one for years. The locals here are only educated on the fact, that they hate or dont want people to tell them how they can use property. Not the whole picture.

This is from a federal level and it is for a reason. When i built my home, the assessor office gave me a permit, without checking or requiring me to check my land for flood zone, so i didnt. I thought that was way to easy. Flooded several timesand FEMA paid, see a problem? FEMA rep eventually told me to get an engineer, so i paid an engineer, not thousands, but hundreds, he brought out a transit and pulled flood plain maps. Made recommendations that costed me about 400 in dozer excavation work. So if me as a builder would have spent less than a thousand up front, it would have saved you as a taxpayer thousands of dollars.

I am now out of flood plain.

FEMA is not running anyone off their property or stopping improvements as the communicator reports. They want the county to be aware of where people are building in flood prone areas and want to try to turn some of the responsibility of mitigation to the owner during the building phase. The ordnance can be modified slightly based on county government, but the whole idea, is i built a new home in a flood zone. It was on a sight that had a home years ago, so i assumed it was OK. It was not and the government wants to ensure everyone checks that first.
