long will the employees they kept get to stay employed? Or did they even keep any? What is everyone going to do, leave West Virginia, there is nothing here that will give you as much money as you did in the mines and so many small mom and pop businesses are going to be forced to shut down also. so sad. all of it
They kept 80 some and are reclaiming. By the first of the year, look for there NOT to be a Consol-Fola operation. Unfortunately, it's straight across the board for all coal jobs. Alpha announced today that they would be laying off 1,200 people. Tough times are here, brace yourself!

will a new company come in and buy out consol? or are mines all over the country shutting down? Fola is a pretty big job, it will take longer than a few months to reclaim it wont it?

It won't take long time to re claim when a few people over seeing it get their pockets lined.

Who knows if a new company will purchase or not. It's hard to make that presumption considering the present coal condition and with power companies converting to natural gas. Time of reclaim depends. Fola reclaimed as it mined to where there may not be that much remaining. Plus, after a certain point, most companies bid out the reclaiming and environmental upkeep to contracting companies (contractors). Like I said before, don't be shocked if Fola is gone by the first of the year!

Consol-Fola gave another WARN notice in December 2012 to be effective beginning February 14, 2013. According to their news release to the State Journal, they will be eliminating their remaining work force. I stated this outcome back in September 2012 (see above post.) The time is here, unfortunately.

If they followed the laws that govern them they'd still be in business.

Look up the Clean Water Act...they broke it daily on the MTR site. Inspectors were paid to ignore violations...they in no way followed standards for reclamation. It's all about the industry making the bucks while the environment and miners get screwed over

It's always "they".. it's funny how when people cannot provide details due to being ignorant of facts, "they" becomes the perpetrator.

They being consol energy...I thought that was clear....cimnr ignorance is someone talking crap when they are clueless about the subject. I worked their 8 years...I know they repeatedly broke the clean water act. They shredded warnings that money paid to inspectors to forget about them. Supervisors on site were warned prior to inspections so the illegal activities ceased.

Did you know it was happening ? If so why didn't you say something about it then? Did you get laid off ? is that what all of this is about now ?

Using derogatory terms is the first sign of a weak argument. When debating its best to use specific facts and not let the feelings of hate and discontent get the best of you.

Congrats on sounding like the over zealous security guard who is disillusioned on how unimportant and out is touch he really is.
