I the Clay county commission did this out of county hire, they should all be impeached, and start with Slinky or stinky or what ever they call him.

I think he will do a great job as director. No matter who was picked someone would have complaints.

What's the justification for paying him more than the advertised salary?

What's the justification for the CCC hiring a person who lives in another county when folks around here need work. They should be held accountable for the lie told.

Sue you need to get out and about and read something besides the Communicator. Relocating back into the county where he was born and raised is part of his hiring recommendations for the job. I thought everybody in Brown Hollow up Fola road was still in Clay County. Oh thats rite the Hartland bridge is the CC cut off line. Young mister Brown was picked for the job because he works for Clay Ambulance Service and had the higher education and best qualifications of the applicants which totaled four people. Home Grown and Clay County raised is all that matters.

I happen to agree with Sue on this. I see big time trouble ahead on this decision. Just set back and watch the county once again hang themselves! LMAO

Once again, let the people bitch with out actually doing something about the problem to begin with. All of you fail to realize that there may have been no qualified people in the county to apply for the job. If you want to gripe, then go take the endless hours of training and classes and conferences and work for little or no pay and with little or no backup from your fellow citizens when you need it most and then continue to do a job that no one appreciates just because you know it's the right thing to do. You go be the first one on scene at a catastrophic fire, shooting, overdose, sexual assault, car wreck or worse, and take home little or no pay, and sit for endless hours through endless classes, and then get your ass chewed up by politicians who will not cooperate, or even educate themselves, and act like they run the place where you try to do your job. You get your ass chewed by state or federal agencies that demand more, when your county forsakes their responsibility and only gives you very little to work with, and then you do that for several years and then you apply for the job. The new guy has his work cut out for him, because the CCC will only be his friend so long then throw him to the wolves, so any of you brave enough, smart enough, or hardworking enough, who are more qualified, go apply to the job. Otherwise shut up and support him, he is going to need it.

Fola wrote: I seem to remember Brown getting fired from a bank job. Has Brown worked in a 911 center before? Are you saying you wanted to apply for this job but didn't because you would just rather bitch about someone else who did....Brown has ran 911 calls for a while for little pay. Dispatching is easy compared to actually being onscene. The director's position will, however, also require him to be responsible for other dispatchers and all emergency response operations (while putting up with the CCC who already thinks they run the place without ANY I MEAN ANY actual training or knowlege of the scope of the position), which to my knowledge, no one in Clay Co is qualified for. Would you be willing to step up, apply for the position, and give this job to an actual Clay Co resident? Are you qualified to do the job or even comment on the job....hmmm

He knew what his was up against when he applied for the postion. Yes there are people that are qualified to do the job in Clay Co they just didnt want the headache of the CCC.Lets just see how long Brown stays at it !! No, here's how it really is...EMT's and Medics actually get paid and they get paid very little for what they do so the next time you see one, tell them thank you for being on duty to save your life if needed. Fire Departments not only work for free but they invest a hell of alot of their own time and money in what they do, so thank them too. Law enforcement, again get paid too little, and have to put up with their own psychotic (a.k.a. Holcomb) bosses to boot, so thank them for their service too. Now, I am sure you don't want the job, I don't want it either, because of the headache of putting up with the CCC. Now, if Brown applied knowing what he was getting into, and happens to live in Clendenin while working for Clay EMS, and is WILLING TO PUT UP WITH THE CCC, what the hell is your problem. If he is the most qualified person WILLING, doesn't that make him the logical hire? Sounds to me like the CCC is a huge problem in this county, so why don't we start there instead. I wonder how they feel knowing a lot of people wouldn't work for them as a taster in a pie factory? Folks, this county is awfully dysfunctional on sooo many levels, please be sure to vote. Please do your part to change this mess for the good of us all. Good luck to Brown...or whoever winds up with that job. Emergency Response Operations and dispatching is the most important link to saving lives, and he needs everyone's cooperation.

Ya know bob, and sue sounds to me like they are part of the Mullins clan from lizemore & I don't know anyone who really cares what you have to say. I mean look at lizemore fd, the ambulance there is a laughing stock had their medical lisc pulled by the state. They are dressed like a bunch of county hicks, reek of cigarette smoke.
Folks the fact remains he was the most qualified for the job. Mitchell Deboard qualified? Not even close. I can't believe people think he's qualified for county commissioner. Let's face it maybe just maybe it takes someone to be raised in the county, move out and return to work, just think maybe he will make tge 911 center the standard that the rest of the state would look up too.
Bridget Holcomb qualified.... Lol that's not even funny. Best she has managed to do is screw half the county.
Everyone just needs to give him a chance and see what happens.
By the way thank you Denver for your services as a paramedic to the citizens of Clay & Kanawha counties.

Maybe all of us should have this "in county only attitude"and stay away from the town center mall and make the dollar general store our only place to purchase clothing. We could hold off forever on buying that new car we wouldn't want to go out of the county,we could just drive a new used one, quit our out of county job and find one with lower pay right here.
