I had my daughter there 8 years ago, and it was a great experience. They took very good care of us both. The thing I really liked was that they don't wake you up to take your vitals at night if you had a normal delivery. I have had friends who had their baby's in Lex who said they never slept because some nurse was always waking them up. For me, it was hard enough to get to sleep, since I had never been in the hospital before. The nurses were very sweet. One of them even came in the next day (her day off)to see my baby because her shift was over before she was born. I don't know what it is like now, but in 2000, it was great!
The reason they didn't wake you up wasn't because you had a normal birth it is because they weren't doing there job!!

CRMC is an excellent hospital, you frequent flyers are what make it bad, you come to the Emergency room and do not get your fix, you leave mad and full of accucations, and then off to spread the word. Why don"t some of you get a job, go to your family Dr. and quit running to the ER with a broken toe nail, and leave the ER open for emergencies so the staff can address the emergencies and you can be off buying your drugs in the street. Sorry we could not help you druggies!

I am also having my first child at CRMC in November, and I was wondering if someone could tell me what the experience was like. My biggest question is after the baby is born and all the tests and checkups and everything has been done, does he get to come and stay with my husband and I while we are recovering or will he go and stay in a nursery the whole time? Please email me at lizziejinks@gmail.com Thanks.

I've had 3 boys. 2 born in Clark Co. 1 in Lex ( I was transported due to complications). I've had many relatives give birth @ Clark Co. The overall experience was great. Our labors and deliveries were handled in compassionate, professional manners. Our infants were cared for w/ tender loving care by knowlegable staff. I had my babies whenever I wanted and they took them to the nursery when I needed to rest. As far as the ER, I totally agree that it is abused. Be real, I have had true EMERGENCIES and have NEVER waited. Think about what a true emergency is. Yeah, I've waited @ the emergency room when something was urgent and we couldn't get in to see the Dr. but never when it was a real emergency.

One of my granddaughters was born at Clark Regional and the other was born at St. Joseph East. My family was very pleased with the care my daughter and granddaughter received at Clark and would have went back to Clark with the second baby but went to SJ because of needing to be referred to a high risk ob. I also agree with "Born in Winchester" if it is a true emergency you will be seen at Clark. As for how much the baby is with you.....they leave the baby with you most of the time unless you tell them you need to rest. I was just very pleased with both hospitals.

any hospital you have a baby at will be tickled to death for you to keep your baby in the room with you, that is one less they have to sit and watch over. That is as long as your baby is healthy and doesnt have any issues .

I have diabetes and the ER did not give it to me. Not eating right and being overweight caused mine, sounds like you need to do a little research!!

Clark regional shouldn't even be called a hospital
You are correct, it is called Clark Regional Medical Center, only and best facility in clark County!! If you do not like it, then you always have the hospital in Jackson to visit. I hear they give excellent care there also.

My Mother went to Clark Regional because she was having severe abdominal pain. She laid there for 11 hrs and all they did was take 2 xrays and an MRI and she was never given anything for the pain," I guess they though she was faking her injury and was just another pill head trying to get some drugs" She was then sent to UK in Lexington. There within the hour they took one xray/MRI and said that her Intestines had ruptured and that she needed emergency surgery NOW!! The Doctor said that surgery had to be done or she would have died. I will never go back to Clark Regional Medical Center for an emergency or anything. My mom ended up being in the Hospital for 10 days and the Doctors said it will take about a year to recover.

We all have our horror stories to tell-similiar thing happened to me, the Dr. at CRMC saved my life, I had the emergency surgery on a Sat., still have a few problems but am getting better. I had previously went to U.K. and was sent home with "unknown problem" and unknown diagnosis, also went to ST Joe East, they sent me home with a bladder infection, I am so thankful the Dr. at CRMC found the problem! Hope your mom is doing good!

I agree...If people would go to their doctor for the minor things, and stop trying to go to get pain meds..It is called EMERGENCY ROOM for a reason. I have had several experences through the ER with my husband who is waiting on a liver. I appreciate everything that the paramedics and the Staff have given to us.
OK first I agree in some part with you and the EMT, however most people go to the ER not for Pain meds as you alledge but simply because they dont have insurance. You can go to the Er knowing you are not going to have to pay and that you can actually get assistance with your bill. I have worked in the hosptial ER ( NOT CRMC) but in Lexington and I do realize that we are swamped with little coughs and sneezes and things that are not emergencies. Again most do not have the luxury of having insurance so this is a last resort. As far as people seeking pain killers, well this too is a sickness. Should we not treat them. Even adicts suffer from the same sever types of pain that we all do. Should we deny them mediations simply because they are adicts. NO.
