Because people ride horses. milk cows and they think we are living in the 1970s. but i havent seing a horse yet, or a cow. target is like three days to get there by horse, eleven days if you go with a cow, and with the gasoline prices today when it reach the four dollar mark is going to be very ugly, ot to include the high rising of taxes, we pay to much taxes here and very high also compare to the nations capital. what i dont understand is why the state of georgia sales tax is 4 percent and in hinesville is 7 percent (washington, dc is 6.5 percent) what i dont understand is why property taxes are skyrocketing here? why there is a gas station in every corner here? why the town is ANTI-MILITARY?( the town harras military soldiers and family members constantly on a daily basis ) the town prey on military soldiers and family members daily. when the soldiers returned from iraq they raised the prices on everything. WHATS WRONG WITH HINESVILLE, THEY DONT WANT THE MILITARY HERE? WHY THEY HATE THE MILITARY SO MUCH? WHY?

Seems like you do not like Hinesville, Ga. Maybe you should move, I hear DC is nice. That would really give you something to complain about..

I here you. I moved here about a year ago and it's not much to offer in Hinesville. I did run across a website that offer's jobs in the local area. The site itself seem to be underconstruction but I was able to apply and get a job on that site. I haven't checked in a few days but whoever is doing the site. I'd like to see it once it's completed. http://www.hinesvillejobs.net

actually, as a hinesville native, i can't think of anywhere in the hinesville city limits where you will find cows and horses. and there are jobs out there, it may not be what you want, but there's employment to be found. sure it may only be 8 dollars an hour, but it's a lot better than 0 dollars an hour. if you're looking for a career, no you're probably not going to find exactly what you want here with the pay that you want and that is because the turn over is so high here do to the transition of the military. why would they want to hire a spouse at a higher pay rate that will be moving within a few years? that might be bad for the person, but good for the business. as for the anti military comments. i dont personally see where this occurs. the military get better loan rates, discounts, and treatment over all from what i've seen, as a citizen and as an army spouse. hinesville may not be the best place in the world to live but if you're stuck here there's no use in complaining about it...chances are it's not going to change...and on a less polite note...most of these comments posted are written quite poorly...perhaps if you had better grammar you might get paid a little more or find a better job.

Have you tried to get a job on post? It has been 15 years since I lived there and things may have changed, but I had a job on post. When that wasn't enough I took a job at a local pizza place. If you're a spouse speak to someone about spouse preference (for employment on post). Good Luck!

Dan, sadly, I agree with you about the Police Department (as a spouse anyway). They were awful! The Sheriff's Department was very nice to deal with though!

Oh and to all the idiots who like to stand in the aisles of Walmart and start up a whole damn conversation...MOVE OUT THE WAY! Walmart is not your living room, you want to sit there and catch up with your old friend...NO! Get the hell out of the way so those of us who are doing what you're supposed to do at a store, can get in and get out.

I'm tired of hearing the military bellyache about Hinesville. The world does not owe you everything. You're probably in the military because you are too stupid to do anything else. You get a paycheck, free medical, legal, housing allowance and still get food stamps. It's hard times for everybody now. So shut up complaining. Better yet, why don't you get out of the army and go back to where you came from if it's so much better?

Hit the pavement & get off the computer. I went job hunting and got one on my first day of looking second place I stopped at! Funny I live comfortable on what little me & the hubby made. Lessen the junk in life you don't need and you can make it just fine on hinesville pay! As some has said stop the complaining, pack up & go some where better then!

I've worked at many of the gas stations here in HIV, and I've made plenty of phone calls to 911 and non emergency pertaining to soldiers. I can tell you right now that not a single one of those soldiers were even cited, let alone picked up. And I'm talking Drunk in Public, Disturbing the Peace, Assault, EVEN DUI.

Perhaps the people of Hinesville have grown disillusioned with US Soldiers, with themselves and Hinesville?
