This thrift shop needs to update their store so that more money can be made to help with the fundraising efforts by the Ruritan Association. The store only at present date accepts only cash. Using the application listed will allow more people to make purchases while visiting this quaint town.

Yeah. It's a shame they won't take plastic for a few bucks worth of stuff.

I seriously doubt they have lost much money due to someone not having the forethought to get some cash to go to the Ruritan thrift shop.

sheeesh.

Yes, everyone that I hang with carries 1,900 bucks in their wallets for a tanning bed. See that the Yankee want to be from up state and relocated to this place still showing ignorance. Tourists just keeps that kind of cash on them at all times. Yankee talk to the hand. Need to get with the program and in 2012 technological wave or continue with your ignorance of technology.

Sounds like someone needs to get with the wave of technology and walk over to the ATM or is that just too difficult to comprehend?

Goodwill Stores all over the area don't take plastic either so its a common thread. What they need to do in negotiate with a bank to wave their fees on credit card purchases for a charity operation.

While taking credit cards is the standard these days, most folks don't realize that every time you use a credit card, not only are you paying interest on your purchase, the business is charged a fee for accepting the card. That fee varies with each card used and can add up quickly for the business involved. I was shocked to see how much these charges could accumulate while working with my daughter in her business. Banks are getting rich regardless of what we do but credit cards are a very lucrative business for them.

This thread is a bit old, but I wanted to respond anyway. I am pleased to tell you that the Thrift Shop now accepts all debit and credit cards. We are excited about this addition and look forward to better serving our customers. All funds earned through the Thrift Shop are used to fund projects and organizations to benefit the Clarksville community.

That store is run by volunteers. Would you want to work there all week long without pay? Be glad they are open at all.
