Sounds like they are trying to help her walk from this. This is truly sickening that the Former Sheriff is acting like he was not aware of this. We will see how this turns out today.

They are trying to get out of doing anything to her, said she is a "fellow officers wife!" Apparently she has done this before and gotten away with it, so why not do it again?
I hope Donnie Limbock pushes this case to the limits. From what I hear, the FBI is going to be called and because she did cross state lines in her little spending spree, they could get involved.

I hope so, If it was my money stolen, I would want to see some surveilance tapes and have copies of the signatures that signed for stuff. You never know what is caught on tape do you?

Yeah, hopefully when people decide to report public corruption of any kind, they will write Dallas FBI, Public Corruption Division, etc. Or Houston. think I saw on the politics. site that someone wrote a Rev. Stovall and told him to report to the Houston office. Might go over there and check that out. Don't know why they referred him there, but they did.

Posted this on another site, but she got 6 months in County Jail with 10 years probation and having to pay a restitution of $132,000 dollars to Donnie Limbock. They are keeping this out of the papers and also very hush, hush.

How is that for a husband throwing his wife under the bus when he was apparently involved also?

I heard it was not even on the court docket. So if that is true, then how can anyone even prove it happened? I heard they just notified everyone hush, hush. So apparently this will not be on record with the courts, is that how to gather this. Was the court reporter recording or not?

The last time it was on the court docket, but apparently not this time. Something amiss here.

Can anyone help me find the news story on Susan Reed? I thought hers said under 100,000 and more than 20,000 also just like City Secty of AVery which I just pulled up. Sure is funny they both read the same way, if that is so.

Guess if it went over 100,000, then the charges could have been different? Was there a cover-up in this sense on these two cases? About how much it really was?
Very interesting

Avery city secretary pleads not guilty
By: Lynn LaRowe - Texarkana Gazette - Published: 12/29/2009

The Avery, Texas, city secretary indicted last month for embezzlement has not pleaded guilty as reported in an area newspaper last week.

Billie N.“Lynn” Stephenson, 54, entered a plea of “not guilty” Dec. 15 at an arraignment hearing in Red River County before 6th District Judge Eric Clifford. Clifford scheduled Stephenson to return for a pretrial hearing in February.

Stephenson’s defense attorney, David James of Texarkana, confirmed Monday that his client’s case is still pending and moving toward trial.

A staff member with the Red River County District Clerk’s Office said a docket entry made after Stephenson’s last court appearance could possibly have led to the mistake. The staff member said the notation indicated a guilty plea had been entered and a February court date set but likely had the word “not” left out inadvertently.

If convicted of theft of property between $20,000 and $100,000 by a public employee, Stephenson faces two to 20 years in a Texas prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Lamar County District Attorney Gary Young because Val Varley, the Red River County district attorney, recused himself. Staff in Young’s office also confirmed that Stephenson’s case is still pending and in the early pretrial stages.

The Texas Rangers are handling the investigation.

Former Sheriff's Wife Arrested from Clarksville Times online today.

Arraignment for Susan Marie
Reed, the wife of former Red River
County Sheriff Terry Reed, is
scheduled for June 29 beginning
10 a.m. at the Red River County
Courthouse.
Susan Reed was indicted for
theft of property greater than
$20,000 but less than $100,000, a
third degree felony. A Red River
County grand jury indicted her on
May 27.
Red River County Attorney Val
Varley had recused himself from
the case and turned it over to
Lamar County Attorney Gary
Young. Sixth District Judge Eric
Clifford is scheduled to preside
over the case.
Susan Reed had turned herself
in on May 28 to the Red River
County Sheriff’s Department and
was released on bail later that day.
According to the grand jury
report, the alleged theft occurred
around February of this year in
Red River County. Susan Reed is
accused of theft of property from
her employer.
The Texas Rangers law
enforcement then conducted an
investigation around the end of
March.
“All I can say is that she has
been indicted for theft,” Texas
Ranger Stacy McNeal said.“I
can’t get into the merits of the
case.”
Terry Reed, who had been
sheriff from 2005 to 2009 and is
now a Clarksville police officer,
declined to comment on the case.
imho

He is now Lt over at the police Department and next in line to the chief of police position that is ( I hear ) opening up very soon.

Now isn't that the cats pajamas?
