The absentee voting at the ball games is straight out of the Acorn play book. They want to ram this bond isssue down our throats. I wish someone on the board in their infinate wisdom would explain why we need to spend $14,000,000 on an elementary school for less than 400 kids when PJC is planning to build a new Tech Center with a 120 seat lecture hall, 16 class rooms, 4 computer labs, 5 science labs, one nursing lab, conference rooms, 30 offices and a building capacity of 1000 students. The cost of the PJC facility-$8,000,000. Come on Rains and Varley, explain this to us. You are trying to rape the tax payers. You need to go back to PJC and take some economic refresher courses. How can you be so stupid? We expected more out of you.

No matter how the board and the school adniniistaration try to gloss it over, the simple fact of the matter is taxes will go up 40%. Also they keep talking about taxes on homesteads of the elderly being frozen, How about the ones that are 60 to 64 years old? Their taxes will be locked in at the new larger rate when they become eligable. The elderly pay full taxes on the rest of their property, no matter their age. When they get the rates as high as they can get get them, then they can raise valuations to increase the taxes. If this board and the admintration are turned loose and not held accountable, you have not seen anything yet. I hope there are poll watchers at the ball games to keep them honest, otherwise there will probably be people and kids from out of town voting. ACORN is alive and well in the Clarksville school district.

Should have said AT LEAST 40%. I'll bet dollars against dougnuts that if this issue passes, taxes will increase by at least 50% in the next two years. I can not understand what they are thinking with economic conditions as they now are. It will cost a lot of money to maintain a $14,000,000 show place. ( a monument to Rains, Varley, and Bryant).

I went to school at Clarksville, PJC, and ETSU. Our Ag shop at Clarksville was in an old converted WW II barracks building moved in from camp Maxey. At PJC and ETSU I also attended classes in converted barracks buildings. They were not air conditioned, but I got a good education. It takes more than a fancy building to provide a good education.

The board and administration think that a fancy new building is the answer to all of our problems. If this bond issue passes, our problems will just be beginning. What the board can't seem to grasp is a good administration, good teachers, and students willing and wanting to learn is what is necesssary for a good education, not a fancy building. What we really need is a new board and administration and a good general house cleaning.

as a life long citizen of Red River County I can see history repeating its self. There has always been a group of as some would say upper class citizens that band together and get things done in their favor reguarless of the hardship it could and would impose on the futher generation. Now I for one am for the betterment of our county and city , but when you have officals that just keep on keeping our county and city citizens in debt so deep that some that have children have had to move out of the county to keep a roof over their family's head and food on the table to me that's not showing signs of improvement but rather keeping Red River County and the City's on the Proverty level. If people want open their eyes and face the fact that Red River County can not afford a New School as our elected officals and some of they're so called friends are pulling for, People if this new school is voted in, before it's all said and done there will be a few people left in the school with children to injoy it with the officals while others have moved on out of the county.A new debt does not bring jobs to the County . Everyone that lives in Red River County know in they're hearts that our County and City have stuck the tax payers neck on a chopping block until there is only one more ounce of blood to be drained and that will come if the New School is Voted in. People are leaving and when the children are gone who will be going to the schools then ? take a look at Boxelder and Annona. a county government can force a citizen to pay high taxes { but they Can not Force a citizen to continue to live under such bondage.} I can remember when there were no mosquitos and everyone was neighbors people were always smileing and injoying the freedom of life and proud of they're governing accomplishments , and look at us now. This has got to be the most depressing city and county that could ever be. Why ? because the governing bodys, with everything from the City ordances to the County Commissioners. For Example -No alchol- No Gambling }} yet How many people even in the Governing positions {Don't drink, beer, whiskey, wine ? Don't go to Casino's ? and Yet who gets the money's from our citizens ? Has Hypocrisy killed our County ? What has Red River County got to Offer anyone other than Bondage. Vote { No New School } or you may be next to have to move to provide for your family.

There has to be hidden buildings in this stupid bond, like a track field, football field, and possible gym. This is not all Bill Rains and Varley. Dockins has made the statement after the last election what would happen as to the voting places. This is a put up deal. Kids that left this school are not coming back regardless of the out come of this election.
All the school officals in the administration of this bond can go to Allen Lumber and have them a house made and put there name on it, also a half moon, star or what ever cheaper.

It has been stated that students want to stay in our district... students are not being driven to other districts because of the school building; they elect to go to other schools to get a quality education, parents are paying fuel costs to assure they get it, PLUS pay the school taxes here. More state funding with more students....There has been an almost 10% decline in enrollment in the past 2 years, people are leaving Clarksville. Where are you going to get more students? No more leaking roofs....We've all been paying taxes all along.WHY IS MAITNENANCE SUSPENDED? Homes appraised at $65,000.00 pay only $17.50 per month for school taxes. SHOW ME ONE!!!! Good for the local economy...How can it improve the local economy? Is a new school going to bring jobs to Clarksville? No more crouded classrooms...Why are thy more crouded? Enrollment is considerably less than in previous years. It is the right thing to do.....FOR WHO? VOTE NO on the school bond election.
