Does anyone have Internet through CDE Lightband? How is the service? Are there any glitches? I am thinking of switching to it when it becomes available. But want to know all the bugs are worked out.

thanks for posting joe I have also been planning on getting the new lightband service and have been trying to get some input from a current customer.
if you don't mind answering these questions would be great.

1. how long was installation?
2. what speeds are you getting at speedtest.net ?
3. and are you satisfied with the picture quality of the cable service (if you have it)?

I switched from charter to cde recently (no cable tv, just internet) and am very happy with it. The installation was professional. The tech actually used wall plates instead of drilling holes in my carpet. I got 2 mbps faster with cde than I did with charter for download. The upload was 2.5 mbps opposed to .47 mbps I got from charter.

I really want to like it, but since the software upgrade on Sept 4th, i've been getting unpredictable speeds... some as low as 177 kb/s. I'm paying for 10mb/s, I want 10mb/s. The TV service is ok... I wish they had Noggin and Game Show Network. I may go back to Direct TV.

I AGREE WITH ADAM.. SINCE LAST THURSDAY, I GUESS IT WAS ON SEPT 3RD. THE SERVICE IS REALLY SLOW/ I'VE HAD FASTER SPEEDS ON DIALUP, AND ATT DSL WAS DEFINITELY FASTER/ THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALMOST NON EXISTENT. TRY AND TALK TO SOMEONE THERE WHO CAN PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE RECENT SLOW SPEEDS!

And did you know that if it was setup correctly, you would only need 1 DVR in your house, and all the set-top-boxes would be able to play and record from that DVR? Basically the system is designed to be a TV Computer network. Streaming content wherever and whenever you want it. It's not setup that way... Sorry.

I queried CDE Lightband today about number of email addresses you get with your account: ONE ! You will be charged $1/month for each additional email address you get after the first one. Also Lightband does not offer any web FTP storage space like Charter does. So far I haven't gone with Lightband as both of the above items are meaningful for my household.

I have had Lightband for a few months now and it is awesome!
I use Lingo for international calling and with Charter my phone was cutting off every 5 seconds or so. I thought it was Lingo, they could find no flaws. When I would be online I seldom lost the web connection. Turned out that (I assume) charter kills connections every so often for just a split second, enough to kill the phone call but not the internet. Read recently where Comcast was doing that as well as a few others ....
So, I switched ... phone has been perfect ever since.
For those who won't switch because of lack of email or web space ... email addies thru goggle, yahoo, and many others are free, and web space is cheap these days, even free with a lot of places depending upon your needs.
I saved $60 a month across the board. You can buy a lot of web hosting for that amount of money!

The best and the fastest I have ever seen. The TV channels are clear without any hiss of static. Best service by fare.

my area hasn't gotten lightband yet, i was wondering what kind of selection for HD they had, and if you NEED an hd reciever for that programming. I currently get ALL local channels and a handful of other digital channels from charter(no cable box, or external hd receiver)

For those of you that have CDE Lightband I have a few questions.

1. How many channels can you record at a time on the DVR?
2. How exactly is it installed? Does it come across the coax jacks that are already installed or do they have to install network cable to all the rooms?
3. Does the internet come with a static ip address?

Where is Cable Access? The city has grown to be able to accept local television programing.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Sagittarius

Slow down! You're trying to do too much and it's driving you - and everyone else - up the wall. What's more, if you're in too much of a hurry you'll start to become accident-prone and that will make you even more het up. Try to take any setbacks or domestic mishaps in your stride, otherwise you'll end the day feeling like a nervous wreck.
