I hear LJ Maxey is running for sheriff next fall. That would be a good thing for our county. I also hear he is surrounding himself with experienced law enforcement officers no matter whether they are republican or democrat. Retired WV State Police Trooper Jerry Menendez is running his campaign for him.
I really don't believe that State Police Trooper Jerry Menendez is running the campaign for Maxey...If the head of the state police would find this out, Jerry would be looking for another job...This post could be very bad for Jerry, I would delete it if I were you...I just know, that it is against the rules and regulations for any state police officer to run a campaign for anyone. It shows bias and contempt for the good name of the STate Police.. I would hate to see the governor get a hold of this...delete it dummy//

I think you are delusional if you truly beilive the deputies would not have a problem with career green belly's running the department. I do not speak for them, but I would bet money on it. As troopers ignore calls and drive by problems like they don't see them they dont build much repore with county or city PD's. You can bet your ass they have a lot of animosity toward each other in most cases. Some troopers stand out and are friends with other law enforcement, but for the most part they are stuck up and stick up their noses to other agencies.
I would vote Albert over Maxey any day...but...its going to be up to the people who vote not up to the deputies. Albert and Marshall Goff of CPD had better get their asses in gear and get rid of the Harrison County Drug Task force, that will be Alberts downfall, because the drugs are so bad in this area. With the amount of drugs in just the Clarksburg area, their are very few arrests...Don't tell me that they are waiting on the big guys while the rest of the population becomes addicts. They need to replace these guys, they need traded in like old cars, their activities should be checked and see why it takes over 5 years to bust guys like Jeff Barnes, then it had to be left up to the Federal Drug Task Force. When you don't see production you have to consider on replacing them. I believe you know who Jeff Barnes is...He was operating and selling drugs out of his business in Glen Elk Number 2 close to a Day Care and even a police officer who lived next to the business could not get the HCDTF to do anything. Even a businessman in GE 2 called and called but isn't 5 years a little 2 long.

Let me add, Maxey is a very good police officer and very well respected. If something isn't done with the drugs in North Central WV, Albert will be out of a job. Being Sheriff isn't just law enforcement, but running the tax department, etc. Albert has done a great job for Harrison County. He just needs to realign the Drug Task force with new members. Hell, everyone knows Chip and the Bridgeport Police Officers. The one from Lewis County was recalled back to his county. He could do more with the Upshur/Lewis County Task Force... To much politics in Harrison... It may be a good move for drug reasons to have Maxey and I respect Jerry...We just have to study and see what the future will bring....By the Way Trupo was a kicking ass sheriff that did not take crap from anyone. He busted the Gallo's and numerous other druggies. I remember Jimbo Hedrickson from the Clarksburg Police Department...Hell he did more in half a year by himself than these guys has done in 10. Then there was Trooper C...great drug enforcement officer even went undercover to Columbia. I won't mention last name due to security. I remember that Clarkburg gave out names of the drug task force members who made a bust...reallly smart considering their families and undercover capabilities were blown...This happened about 15 years ago...Thats what ego's does for a those guys. They just had to have their names in the paper...what a joke....

Hey John Q Jerry Menedez is no longer a Trooper. He retired maybe you should start doing research before you post. Mr Menedez is currently employed by the Stonewood PD as a part time officer

LJ Maxey is a jerk. He has no personality and used everyone around him. Maxey was a do nothing with the dea and now thinks he can run a sheriffs office when he didnt supervise anyone his entire career. I feel sorry that Jerry fell for his BS and is running with him.

Albert is a good, honest, hardworking sheriff.

Where do i start...the task force in harrison has the highest arrest statistic in the state...u can find them on the wvdocj website...barnes did not take 5 years i know bcuz i had him on parole...they had an investigation on him and were getting ready to arrest him when his parole was violated...while he was IN JAIL they identified his supplier in north or south carolina...the arrested him , his dad and then barnes....he is currently still in jail and not out on some bullshit probation that he would have recieved in the state system...the harrison county drug task force IS the federal task force u speak of...there aint no other task force around and the dea at that time didnt have anyone working this area...ir right trupo was a hell of a sheriff and a GREAT man and the gallos, carlucci's, childers were all brought down while he was still a police man...do you know WHO arrested them ALL...well do you mister no it all????? Lowell J. Maxey did you ignorant uninformed shit stirring moron. Dont believe me? Go to the federal court house, 3rd floor. They have a public computer there you can research the court records with.

Damn straight buddy johnq dont know shit. Funny, I worked with the trooper C..... he mentioned for 10 years and can promise u he never went to columbia...florida yes but we never went to columbia. Please show me the article where their names were mentioned 15 years ago bcuz NOBODY ever published that and if my memory serves me the grant they were under back then forbid them to be mentioned in the media. You can use clarksburg publishings website to research your allegations . And last i knew this task force arrested an average of 100-130 people a year and in the last 8 years they have gotten over 18,000 months of incarceration in the federal system. Another fact you can find on the cpub archives. Go do your homework and make intelligent informed comments.

I will happily campaign for him, drugs are rampant here, i feel w/his experience he may be able to zero in on more of the dealers local & imported, get the Dr.s involved, something needs to change, i see transactions often (parking lots, the park near my home, restaurants) it's like they have no fear of the law...it wasn't like this during Trupo's term, there's a HERO, God Bless our Law enforcement officers, they risk their lives daily.

The task force creates cases. They hound dog someone with their paid informants until they can create something that looks like a drug deal. You want to brag on the arrests, the people they send to jail. Right. The jails are overcrowded with non violent offenders who need to be in a rehab place when the task force finishes with them. We taxpayers pay for people in jail. Noleadership there, no accountable, who knows what really goes on since no one is watching, only counting how many people they can get in jail. The real drug problems go on. Albert has to know this not a good way to use his deputies The present task force needs to walk a beat and get a whole new group in there.

We follow all the laws not just the ones we choose too.

These people knew the drugs were illegal BEFORE they got addicted. They are right where they belong, in jail.

Great news in the Exponent Friday, Clarksburg council members wising up to the fact that the sheriff and his SCAD unit is a waste of manpower and a setback to effective drug enforcement in Harrison County. L.J. Maxey was saying this all along. Too bad Sheriff Marano didn't listen to those with expertise in drug law enforcement and not cut the Task Force to start his unproductive SCAD unit. Three cheers for Clarksburg City council. Wise up Albert, admit you don't know anything about drug enforcement.

Where have you been. There have been several articles in the paper in the past two weeks on Albert and Sheriff Department. He has already put an officer back on Task Force and asked Commission for an additional officer for the Task Force. That was in paper ... I think maybe before Christmas. Albert already knows the Task Force was ineffective as it was and when his deputy strength was back up in numbers, he took care of the task force. Both County and Clarksburg had several officers resign and had to hire and train new officers. Clarksburg Council just did what they always do, jump on the program already in place at county level and act like they did something. Goff already has two people on Task Force. Task force officers should be rotated every two years, so they don't get a comfort zone there. Seems they dont want to rotate.

Jim, if you read Friday’s paper you must be one of those people who reads an article and just interprets it to say what you want it to say. Thursday night Clarksburg Council said they don't see the need for the SCAD unit and told the chief to tell the sheriff it's a waste of manpower and is a bad idea. Are you an expert in drug law enforcement also, as the sheriff believes he is?
Task Force officers rotate every two years???? What is the rational for that? What is a comfort zone?? That is an ignorant statement. And I'm being kind...
