Why was this not covered in our local news?

Probably because it would've taken a bit of investigative reporting. Local newspapers, radio and TV only cover "fluff" stories because they don't want to make waves for any locals who might've been involved.

Maybe some of those so-called "sister corporations" were local media companies?

So true, if I hear one more story about a charity walk, run or marathon I am going to scream. The media has not reported on several widely known tax payer wasting problems in the area even though information has been forwarded that laid out the problem. What can the public do to remedy this situation? The public officials are so non-responsive since they have nothing to fear from the media. One of the parties in the Comvest mess is the Mayor of Bridgeport and the other the head of Office of Development. No wonder WV never gets any where.

Bridgeport, Shinnston, and Salem are all poorly managed. The managers and police departments are under investigation or members have been forced to resign because of criminal activity. Last one out of Harrison County please turn out the light.

This Comvest web is tangled indeed. The mayor of Bridgeport, Jim Christie, has now stepped down from his position as Secretary of the WV Municpal League, due to all the fallout from the Comvest bankruptcy. It has been revealed that the Municipal League had sponsored a marketing agreement with the Comvest, which was co-owned by Jim Christie. As part of the agreement, the Municipal League steered its member cities to do business with Comvest and received a fee from the company in exchange. Geez, can anyone say "conflict of interest"? How about "fraud"? Ok, now, try this: "Billy Sol Estes"? I see guilty people.

If I were a betting man - and I AM - I would bet the missing funds which were entrusted to Comvest and then just disappeared were fraudulently funnelled into their 'sister' company, Moon and Stars Studio. According to the Studio's website, they have been working on a reality show called "Hotties" and other projects. I do know 'hotties' cost a lot of dough. So, Mr. US Bankrutpcy Trustee, just follow the money trail to the old farts chasing the hotties. Never fails. Oops, I used the word 'hotties'. Does that mean I have to pay Christie and Cutlip a user fee??? lol
