They can put any business next to a residence. Not a good state to live in. Not for families. A bar, coal mashing plant and gas company moved next to me in 6 years.

Other states are civil in this matter. Not WV.

I would not advice anyone to have a residence in WV

You go up and down the roads and there are run down buildings and a general junky atmosphere in WV.

Officials in the state seem to favor businesses not residence.

It is an ugly State.

Do not move there.

Sorry, "so many sp...." Didn't know I hit a nerve. Must hurt if its true. Tone it down a bit if you want a point made. Letting foul language fly must mean you do live in nasty WV. Lot of nasty things going on in Bridgepot also.

Please us constructive ideas. Instead of calling people names. Try solving a problem. Call officials , write officials, if you care.

If not , stay in your Mommies basement.

Let the authorities run the County.

Angie... Not all of WV is trashy. I do agree they're are a lot of run down places around, but still. Don't give the hole sate a bad name. I live In Pennsboro and other then the drama in Ritchie, I don't mind living here. It's not a bad place. Please don't give us a bad name because you don't like it here... Just move. I'm 14 and I love being from West Virginia!

The only livable area for a cultured individual in West Virginia is Morgantown. Unfortunately, I can't live there.

They are quite exclusive in Morgantown and won't let anyone move there who isn't cultured enough. Don't feel too bad because you might soak up enough culture if you hang around the right people.

Oh, it's not a lack of culture preventing me from moving there (I can guarantee I'm more pretentious than anyone in Morgantown). I simply can't live there due to the fact that I would 100 percent kill a few people who live there if I ever ran into them.

Your an idiot! You are no better than the next unemployed person living with their parents. You can't move to Morgantown because rent is expensive and you can't afford your own house to purchase.
As far as it being cultured. It does have the largest in state college, largest hospital, and largest generic pharmaceutical company in the country. All of which draw in workers from all over the country or world.
There are other areas in West Virginia that are cultured. Huntington, Charleston, Wheeling and even parts of eastern panhandle.
I personally don't care for Morgantown, the infrastructure do not support as many people as in the city. Poor design for driving, no parking. Some good restaurants nothing to write home about. Worse part of all it's full of jersey children.
So for first time I agree with to I would probably get in a fight a week or shoot someone.

Where did you live before you had to come to north central West Virginia?

Don't site Bridgeport as a model. To anyone from the outside, it looks about as bad or worse than any other city in the state. Bridgeport hill is an eyesore. Johnson ave is letting any strip mall type business that want to open up have at it. The nicest neighborhoods have a government subsidized airplane fly overhead throughout the day. The decent farmland area out 73 is eroding quickly as the airport claims Emminent Domain and other things happen. Bridgeport is great to those who drink the kool aid. There are some nice areas, but most could be subject to the same thing Angie originally stated. They'll let an Autozone or Dollar General plop down right by your house in most neighborhoods. That's a problem

Totally agree with OP regarding zoning laws (or lack thereof) in WV. However, if you do not care for it, there are several highways that point out of state in all directions.
Personally, I have lived all over the country in "cultured" areas. They all have their problems. WV is gorgeous in parts, full of good, down to earth folks. It all depends on where you are in your life and what you want out of it. I came home to be with family & to raise my own. I can't complain. I chose to live here and so did OP, apparently. Which brings me to my original point. If you don't like it here, go elsewhere.

Then you agree with the original post. A lot of us don't want to take the potholed road out of here, but would like to preserve what beauty remains or not have our neighborhoods blighted by buildings that don't fit in. If you don't like it move, is exactly what generation of children have been doing in wv. At some point, all that will be left is mountain top removal, strip job sites, closed plants, pork barrel highways (corridor h) deserted trailers, sh tty chain stores, and government employees.
